There's a big difference between just being a freaking incredibly stupid, lazy, dumbass piece of shiat and the claim 'I was addicted to weed'.

No kidding. Only dumbshiats get "addicted" to weed, and I think it's all in their head. I used to smoke a lot of weed, but I was never addicted to it. Hell, I'm not really addicted to...

Shiat. Got to get back to Quake Wars ;)

Infamous Dr. X [TotalFark] 2009-03-22 10:42:01 PM
What in the name of christ was that about? Who gives a shiat?

I used to smoke a lot of weed, too (not that I ever got to meet Radiohead, although I did see them at Suffolk Downs) but you don't see me getting 500 words in The Times.

Newspapers are collapsing left and right and THIS is what one of your star columnists is putting out? Are you kidding?

In the writer's case, if it wasn't weed it probably would have been damn near anything else he could blame it on.
Go into a top level professional kitchen/restaurant during service. See if you think those guys are lazy, stupid, and dumbasses as they put out up to 200+ plates of food an hour...and then remember probably 80% or more of them are multiple-times-daily smokers-which by most definitions would be "addicted".

The former was a preexisting condition- which means Paul is hardly liable.

I had a girlfriend who said she was quitting when we started going out, and it never really happened in the three years we saw each other.

It became, "I didn't say that" or "I meant except for the one on the way to your place, and the way home." or "You can't make me!" Which was funny, since I'd never asked her to, and it only came up when I'd say things like, "Didn't you quit yesterday?"

Some people just have poor willpower perhaps? Most people wouldn't say food is addictive, but quite a few people have problems altering their diets.

I did this woman's job. I interviewed famous people too. BB King, Yoko Ono, Les Claypool and also Christian bands, barbershop quartets and little girls who sang the national anthem at AAA baseball games.

Altogether, I interviewed over 600 people in my time as a reporter - all while stoned.

This woman is an idiot. She obviously has an addictive personality, an intense need to be accepted and shattered self-esteem. I wouldn't put some history of abuse past her as well.

Out of the estimated number of people I've interviewed in life, I would say I smoked with maybe 4. They were ones you'd expect. But I never chose an interview based on their smoking habits. Are you kidding?

She sounds like she was looking for a lay more than a story.

This is paranoid, anti-pot yellow journalism at its worst. fark this woman and her lack of ability and self-control.

And what exactly did YOU give up for her? If you had to place conditions on the circumstances under which you would "accept" her, then it was doomed from the beginning.

It was entirely your fault. Sorry.

Nurglitch 2009-03-23 01:09:53 AM
If unloading one's quad mean breathing out into someone else's mouth so they can have your second-hand smoke. In this case, however, I don't think it counts because wasps have spiracles.

Incidentally, what's with people claiming they didn't have the willpower to quit smoking pot? I've known plenty of people that didn't have the willpower to keep smoking pot, and this is in Canada (go BC hydro!). I quit because it got to the point where I was only comfortable smoking if I was planning on a quiet night in - wandering around high was just too much like hard work.

I love the comments:

My friends and I were the biggest Beatles fans in America, but I can guarantee you, not a one of us ever smoked "weed" as you call it! I am highly offended that those of us who lived through those times are all labeled potheads. Not ALL of us did drugs or free sex.

Excellent article. I hope you consider giving talks to the local schools. Some will become enamoured, but the majority will, I hope, recoil in horror and resolve to stay back from the edge. Regards,

Thanks? I take it you didn't get to the next few lines of text in my post where I note that I never asked her to quit? I didn't care one way or the other, or I wouldn't have gone out with her that long.

I was remarking more about the nature of some people who always say they're going to do something, and never quite manage to follow through on it.

The Propaganda machine kicks into high gear, no pun intended.
As the economy continues its tumble "at near freefall speeds,"
The apparatus desperately seeks out an enemy, any enemy to blame.

Instead of opening a dialogue to help answer the most pertinent questions that any of us has ever asked, we are given a rehash of "Reefer Madness."

Is this really the best they can come up with?

Judas Priest on trial because my kid bought the records, and he listened to the lyrics, and he go into Satan... ALLALALALALALLALA! Well that's great. That sets a legal precedent.
