I think he did Orson Wells on "The Critic" as well. He's great.

Maurice LaMarche is one of the greatest voice actors ever. His Wells is phenomenal, and his Shatner is great.

MightyPez: Thank you so much. Made my day.

Maurice LaMarche as Egon Spengler in The Real Ghostbusters. Fantastic performance on an all-around good show. The writing in that show has made it age considerably well. It's better than I remember it.

Yes, Rosebud frozen peas. Full of country goodness and green pea-ness.
Wait, that's terrible. I quit.
Just a handful for the road.
Oh what luck, there's a french fry stuck in my beard.

The Brain: Are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Pinky: Woof, oh, I'd have to say the odds of that are terribly slim, Brain.
The Brain: True.
Pinky: I mean, really, when have I ever been pondering what you've been pondering?
The Brain: To my knowledge, never.
Pinky: Exactly. So, what are the chances that this time, I'm pondering what you're pondering?
The Brain: Next to nil.
Pinky: Well, that's exactly what I'm thinking, too.
The Brain: Therefore, you ARE pondering what I'm pondering.
Pinky: Poit, I guess I am.

The man is also a gifted belcher. He did all of the burping for Wakko's concerts in the Animaniacs.

On the special features on the season one DVD, he lets one rip for the camera, on queue, and I swear, you could see the camera vibrating.

I loved his Alan Alda imitation in the Futurama episode "War is the H-Word." The clip used to be on youtube--can't find it now.

Maurice is amazing, but who doesn't secretly, deep down Love shiattyShats, eh? I mean, he's 50+ years out of my league and I'd still let him lay the pipe.

An example of Maurice LaMarche's Shatner impersonation on "The Critic" (new window)

...and just because it's sorta related: Hee Haw - The Next Generation (new window)

Wouldn't the #1 imitator of William Shater be the 'Shat himself? I mean, the guy does make a living lampooning himself in every role he's in...

Wow! I'm really happy to see all the Maurice LaMarche love in here. Usually when I mention how much I love him, I get a blank look and a "who?"

Mister Peejay 2009-03-22 10:42:16 AM
He was the voice of Brain, *and* he was on Animaniacs?

You fail, Subby. You fail hardcore.

/also came in here to point out the skazillion other voices he does, but that's being taken care of nicely

I loved his Alan Alda imitation in the Futurama episode "War is the H-Word."

I was sure that was Alan Alda's voice, until I went to IMDB to see what other guest bits Alda had been doing and Futurama wasn't on the list.

Maurice LaMarche is amazing.

The more unfortunate statement is that he is also not right. I've talked to 18-19 year olds who watch it and when I talk about how much better it was in the first 6 seasons they just sort of stare blankly at me.

And then they make fun of the low-tech animation style.

FTFY.

I'm not entirely sure anyone is at all impressed with the Simpsons still. I'm pretty sure that at this point, only the most hardcore fans in denial are still regularly tuning in.

I think if I was in the age group you described and grew up with Season 10-onward, I don't think I would bother with the show either.

I've been around for (much longer) than the entire run of the Simpsons. Long enough to remember when it was 'Seasons 1-3 were good but they all suck since then' days of say, season 5 (I could insert any season number I want to here).

I think most of you 'it sucks now' guys have very very selective memory.

/The early seasons had some baaaaad episodes.
//The later seasons have some good episodes.
///And like most other shows, 90% of any season is mediocre at best.

Also did an amazing Orson voiceover in Ed wood. Not the greatest voice actor, but certainly the best of his generation.
