They should have went with Bobby Terrance (p0p)

I was really hoping that the new album title was a play on words meaning it was "never gonna happen." Chinese Democracy, that was almost very clever.

/We hate you Axl

Aren't we sick enough of this chump?

He looks like crap, the "new" album sucks, and GNR is so 1990s...

Go away, Axl.

mahavishnunj 2009-03-22 08:34:34 AM
is he as overqualified as ron thal and buckethead? cause god knows axl has to have extremely good guitar players to play that garbage music.

TeddyRooseveltsMustache [TotalFark] 2009-03-22 10:01:26 AM
Axl doesn't realize that his time came and went, and that he spent a lot of that time beating the crap out of his fans, alienating the rest of them in the process. Hang it up, you cornrow wearing freak.

Daraymann [TotalFark] 2009-03-22 10:15:38 AM
That is NOT Guns N' Roses. Now just shut your whore mouth.

Does this guy have a bucket on his head? If so can we just shoot both of them?

DJ Ashba? Is he going to play guitar or scratch-mix records?

This. I know Metallica's not real popular on FARK, but I'm a long-time Metallica fan. So, to contrast, I think it's interesting that Metallica hit the big-time before G'n'F'n'R, and they're still relevant today. Axl, you should have been taking notes.

So, he should have put out substantially lower quality albums in the 90's and attacked file sharing?

/I would have totally watched Axl Rose: Some Kind Of Douchebag.
//I give Death Magnetic an A for effort, but a C- for execution.

Memo to axl,

Just bring back slash, duff, and izzy. They have all moved on and forgiven your assholishness, it would make all of you millions and you could play in front of stadiums again.

Sincerely,

Metal fans.

I like that, "overqualified" I will be using that

CaptainFatass 2009-03-22 03:38:28 PM
Axl should have signed up Leo Kottke to play guitar in G'nR. That would have been outstanding.

Pretty sure all the hired guns recorded at some point, a lot of it probably didn't get released or was recorded over. Bucket, Finck, and Bumble have all toured, is subby hinting at Josh Freese and some of the others from the late 90s?

You're obviously a hater. That's fine. In 1991, Metallica put out The Black Album which was their best. That same year, GnR put out "Use Your Illusion", which was not their best. After that, though...

Metallica put out "Load" in 1996. By then, GnR had put out "The Spaghetti Incident?" and "Interview with the Vampire", delighting four fans.

From 1996 to 2008 Metallica put out "Reload", "St. Anger", and "Death Magnetic" to GnR's "Chinese Democracy".

And, of course, along the way GnR became a hollow mockery of itself, turning into Axl and some other douchebags, while Metallica retained the same core band members (only switching bass players after St. Anger).

So mis-steps aside, Metallica at least stayed busy, together, and in the public eye. (No, I didn't like "Load" or "Reload" either.)

/source source (excluding compilations and cover albums, except where necessary to beef up GnR's resume)

yeah, buckethead and bumblefoot are real douchebags. they cant hold a candle to virtuosos like kirk hammett or slash.

/metallica and gnr BOTH always sucked

DJ, what the fark are you thinking??

Don't join the Axl Rose band.

Motley Crue will have an opening for a guitar player pretty soon. They need ya!

Well, at least he's got the drug problem working for him.

Are you seriously holding up Reload and St. Anger as shining examples or Metallica's modern work? The only decent album of the three you listed is Death Magnetic - and Chinese Democracy put it to shame by ditching the whole LOUDNESS aspect and being a listenable album with actual, discernible layers. Seriously, when you need to download a copy of a rip from a video game, your album mixing is shiat.

Metallica's best effort since the black album remains S&M.

Thirded. Loved the book, but it really dimmed my opinion of Slash. I never thought he was a saint, but what an incredible asshole.

and I'm a huge Slash fan. His music is the reason I learned to play guitar.

Based on the three songs I just heard, which I believe are from that album (White Trash Circus, MoFo of the Year, and Saints of Los Angeles), I must say that I disagree with you and the industry folks who nominated the album.
