Afterwards, he have a press release saying that the performance wasn't at all what he meant to sing.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm not so sure this is the step forward that Reznor and others have been working towards.

$77 seems pretty stiff, but it is for a year and going to one 2-hour concert without requests will no doubt set you back $150 in Vegas. If I wasn't a cheap bastard I'd go for it.

nothingyet: This is in NO WAY cool.

Pretend it is an artist that you enjoy, re-evaluate your statement.

caperbear 2009-03-19 01:51:07 PM
sure, you MAKE a request and then he just sits there staring at you because you didn't make the RIGHT request, and now God says it's alright for Prince to take you women from you.

In the meantime go have a seat on his sculpture of a crescent moon with Beyonce and his personal chef whilst Prince gazes into his mirror that holds the images of all of his friends.

\Mah PrEEE-unce!

Those are good points. It depends on what music you have access to I suppose. If it was FLAC and lots of albums, sure why not?

I'm not much of Prince fan, although I do respect him as he's had a sizable influence on what I do listen to.

A little expensive for me, but this sounds cool.

He probably would, and would probably play is better than you've ever heard it. He's just that damn good.

jerkobson 2009-03-19 02:40:25 PM
Although I am to poor to do this I absolutely would. The off chance of hearing prince do Starfish and Coffee or My Computer or Sometimes it snows in April would be worth the price alone.

If you mean thinking of extremely creative ways to market musicians who are years past their best work, it is.

Generally speaking, I don't respond to obvious trolls unless you lay your cards on the table, so to speak. So you can list some musicians who you feel are relevant, or otherwise be dismissed.

1derful 2009-03-19 04:29:52 PM
Relevant to me? Relevant today? Relevant to the history of music?

I'm not trolling. Prince is at the point where practically anything he does is more relevant than the music he makes.

Personally I think there is a point where you get so successful that you lose the spark,or soul, or whatever you want to call the intangible thing that makes great music great. Prince hasn't been interesting to me for years.

Trent just got infatuated with that damn guitar tone he's always using now, and he don't diversify with textures like he used to back in the day when he was a perfectionist.

/You shouldn't dismiss me because I'm a toll, you should do it because I'm aware that Chicago House is much better than Detroit techno.

apeiron242 2009-03-19 04:47:49 PM
i'll take out a loan for 7700$ and make him play Pussy Control 1000 times.

Prince's Relevance:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_discography

And that doesn't touch what he's written and produced for others.

I'm not sure if the risk is worth the reward at 12 for 10 cents. Even if they sold a million of them, that's only like 13 dollars or something.

I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter, etc.

Yeah Trent got obsessed with more than just running the guitar straight into the board, he basically adopted the whole song-writing and production style of Prince circa 'You Sexy Motha farker'. Brilliant move on his part b/c half the kids listening don't know he didn't come up with that stuff on his own. Plus if you're going to blatantly copy someone's production style, Prince certainly isn't a bad choice.

Prince is an institution, he's like Tom Waits, or Bob Dylan -- he just does what he does and it's our job to figure it all out. They've already made a name for themselves and now they just do whatever the hell they want.

I don't know if you're into hip-hop, but I think Black Milk is Jesus right now.

I have honestly walked away from hip hop forever and not even Jesus could make me want to listen to it again.

I'd stay and argue about the Chicago versus Detroit thing, but that's so completely false it's too obvious. :p

OK, let's get this out of the way early. Here's a list of bands that are better than Prince:

Linkin Park
The Wetspots
Up To The Knuckles
MeatBeat Manifesto
Gloryhole
The Bearded Clams
Smashing Pumpkins
Flatus Ignitus
When Did I Eat Corn

Hold on here, Chuckles. I've been a huge fan of Jack Dangers probably longer than you've been alive. Don't involve him in your shenanigans, and sure as hell don't associate him with Smashing Pumpkins or Linkin Park, you dumb little farkhead.

Why? Because he's basically the "Lars Ulrich" of whatever the kind of "music" he performs is? You know that white guitar with the dildo on it he had in the Purple Rain movie? Yeah, he needs to pull that out of his ass.

I think it's cool that he's doing this. It's an innovative approach. But, I enjoy Princes music. Or at least the good music he came out with back before his retarded name change.

What's he done of note since Batdance? And that was 20 years ago!
