I started listening to Freak Out! a few weeks ago, and have been listening to the Mothers' second album, Absolutely Free, all this week.

This stuff is owning my soul.

We're Only In It For The Money from 1968 is his crowning achievement, but I confess I think his 1984 remastered version is an improvement. Sorry, purists.

Do you find yourself calling vegetables on the phone?

Reminder: a prune isn't a vegetable.

Which photo should we run with the article?

I don't know. How about the one where 90% of the defining facial features are obscured by shadows?

No offense to the fine city of Baltimore, but the bust should be in Laurel Canyon.

What's New In Baltimore, indeed!

The "Frank Zappa Listening Project" I staged a few summers ago lasted 3 months and covered over 200 albums and bootleg concert recordings. The man was a genius composer and guitarist. It's freekin' awesome to listen to "You Can't Do That on Stage Anymore V.6" - especially having been in the audience when the Seattle portion was taped.

I still think Uncle Bernie's Farm should become a Christmas carol sung as often and with as much gusto as Jingle Bells.
