Oh Noes. Warning, PDF (new window)

I thought I would enlighten Farkers on just all the outrage they can show! Religion! Gays! Immigrants! Yes, Yes, partnerships are evil. How dare the Census combine with community groups who already service the area to further their efforts at gathering complex and informational data sets!

Also, it's enlightening to realize what is really going on.

Religious Partnership:

In Southern New Mexico, near the Mexican border,
the Executive Director of Catholic Charities has
committed to develop a resolution for the
Catholic Charities Board of Directors as well as
the church. They have excellent relationships
with the homeless network and engage in
ecumenical work.

Catholic Charities and the Farm Labor Housing
Corporation in rural Colorado have committed to
provide conference rooms at farm labor housing
complexes for recruiting and Questionnaire
Assistance Centers.

Partnership Specialists
exhibited and made a 2010 Census presentation.
Organizations represented at the conference
included Black Women for Political Action, Greater
Denver Ministerial Alliance, and the Colorado
Springs and Pueblo Chapters of the Roundtable.

The Kansas City Partnership Staff attended the
AME Church general convention in St. Louis. This
convention is held every four years. The church
boasts over 2 million members globally. More
than 40,000 delegates, church leaders and others
were slated to attend this event. We provided a
census fact sheet that was included in registration
packets for 500 church leaders.

The Catholic Charities were very helpful during an
initial meeting - asking how they could be of
assistance, providing contacts of their larger
umbrella organization. They will disseminate
information about the 2010 Census at their
"feeding centers" held monthly across the city of
St. Louis and promote the Census in online
publications. Catholic Charities serves a wide
range of disadvantaged populations: dependent,
abused and neglected children; unemployed or
homeless adults; parents and children requiring
family counseling; people struggling as the result
of drug abuse or alcoholism; and senior citizens
with special needs.

Philadelphia partnership staff attended the
Hispanic Prayer Breakfast & Conference/Esperanza
in Washington, DC and staffed an exhibit booth.

The Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP) is
working with the Seattle Region to ensure
outreach and recruiting in the Richmond,
California area. Reaching 41 congregations from a
variety of traditions, this organization provides
training sites, meals for the needy, and a
homeless shelter for families.

Immigrant Partnerships:

Detroit Regional Partnership Staff will present to
the Michigan Commission of Spanish Speaking
Affairs (COSSA) Board at their September 2008
meeting in Adrian, Michigan.

Staff established a partnership with the Mexican
American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF).
Census staff has provided orientation, job
descriptions for census jobs and testing
information to MAOF. They used their network to
distribute information regarding the Early Local
Census Office management positions.

Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
(LIHCC) has agreed to help recruit for the various
2010 Census positions that will become available
and provide space for testing, training,
Questionnaire Assistance Centers and Be Counted
sites.

Casa Puebla, a Mexican community organization
based in Manhattan, has its own television station
and has agreed to produce several shows geared
toward educating the Latino community about the
ease, importance and confidentiality of today's
Census.

The Philadelphia Region participated in an
Esperanza Focus Group meeting to discuss how to
expand the partnership program for 2010. Focus
Group planners identified a cross-section of the
Philadelphia metropolitan area that included many
Asians, (i.e., Cambodian, Chinese, Filipino,
IndoChinese) and Latino migrant workforce
participants and other hard-to-count communities.

Even Gays, Transgenders, and those bisexuals:

The LA Region has established a partnership with
Bienestar, a civic and educational non-profit
organization that serves HIV patients, bisexual,
and transgender population in Los Angeles
County, San Bernardino County, and San Diego
County.

Partnership staff established contacts with the
National Lesbian & Gay Journalist Association
during the Unity '08 Convention in Chicago, IL
that resulted in an exhibit at the organization's
national conference in Washington, DC. The
Census Bureau was the only federal agency that
participated in this conference which included
1,200 gay and lesbian journalists from
mainstream media outlets.

It's always fun to watch people argue against an organization designed to uphold personal liberties and fight government infringement of those rights.

Especially when those people argue for personal liberty and freedom in every other political argument they hold.

Tearing at the fabric of democracy, young man.

I mean, look at how they shifted the entire balance of the election. Why, I remember early December when hundreds of ACORN workers were brought up on charges and convicted of voter fraud related laws. It was catastrophic to our election system.

The U.S. Census is supposed to be free of politics, but one group with a history of voter fraud, ACORN, is participating in next year's count, raising concerns about the politicization of the decennial survey.

I know it has been said but WTF!?!? Despite many irresponsible accusations, ACORN has never been tried, let alone convicted, of voter fraud, (or registration fraud).

Yet here we have a supposedly legitimate major network news service stating their guilt as a matter of fact.

FOX News is not an counter point to MSNBC. MSNBC has never done anything like this.

I, for one, am glad that subby submitted this. I think he was playing the PITA to get the green, I sense exaggeration. FOXNews never actually said "cult" after all, but it sure sounded like it's what they meant.

The biatch in the article goes as far to get legitimate responses from both ACORN and The Census Bureau only to retort with more tinfoil red meat anti-journalism like saying "But Buckner acknowledged that it is difficult to track an applicant's political background." directly after he stated "The Census (Bureau) is a nonpartisan, non-political agency".

I actually had to check to see if it was some iReporting type of story, since the bias is blinding, but was sorely disappointed and not surprised in the least.

As someone whose entire political identity is based on ignoring reality, I am disturbed that you are forcing me to consider a reality-based worldview. How dare you make me question my faith, sir! Where is the respect for my political views, based not on evidence, but on political internet memes, teabagging and blind outrage at concepts I don't understand but have decided to associate with political theories I also don't fully understand? For the Obama cult followers who have no problem with the White House taking over the census and letting a group that has been kicked out of multiple states for their activities, including voter fraud... A group that has members all over the country with charges pending against it...

This would roughly be the same as if Bush decided to take it over during his term and have Karl Rove run it, with Haliburton helping out. But liberals, being the hypocrites that they are, see no problem with gross abuse of power if it means giving themselves an advantage.

Change you can believe in right? After whining and screaming for eight years about Bush abusing his power you should be absolutely enraged by what Obama is doing with the census.

In case you missed it, ACORN has not been implicated in voter fraud. Mickey Mouse filled out a voter registration card, but he never actually showed up to vote. If he had, *that* would have been voter fraud.

Instead, some of their employees made fraudulent registrations, which ACORN's administrators reported, but by law could not simply discard. You see, even if you think a registration is fraudulent, it is a far greater crime to take matters into your own hands -- you may be committing fraud by doing so, telling someone you were registering them to vote, and then throwing away their card.

Why do you lie so much? Seriously. Do you believe the lies yourself, or do you repeat these lies because you think the ends justify the means in some twisted sense of honor to your favorite sports team?
