Well, it helps if I read the article:

Her introduction of this bill represents a stunning conflict of interest, because her husband, Stanley Greenburg, works for Monsanto. Monsanto is the world's biggest producer of herbicides and genetically engineered seeds, and they would GREATLY benefit if thousands of small organic farmers were put out of business, because organic farmers don't use Monsanto products.

What's the hard-on about farming all of a sudden? The EPA is even preparing to go after farmers for the dust that leaves the farm. Google yourself or here.

Well, the creepy redheaded guy on the street corner holding the sign has been saying this stuff for years.

I should have listened.

The minute I gat a look at TFA, I thought "Uh-oh". Then I read it. Then I looked up and read a synopsis of the bill. And, sho-nuff, there is absolutely nothing in the bill that says anything that these whaaaaargaaarblers are saying it does. so relax folks, it's just the same shiat it always is - good, moral Christians, lying their farking asses off.

FTL:
"Under the regulations, livestock operations could be treated as stationary air emissions sources and be required to obtain emissions permits under federal and state laws. As a result, pork production operations could face monitoring for particulate matter such as dust from dirt roads and fields and for chemicals, including ammonia, that can form particulate matter. They also may be subject to Clean Air Act "new source review" requirements any time a modification or improvement to their operations is made. "

So, no, it isn't. And yes, I am not in favor of it.

Yes, someone in the gubmint is concerned about the safety of our food supply.

OMG!

And the fact that she is married to someone in the industry couldn't possibly mean she knows a little bit about it? Of course not. Everyone in the gubmint now is evil and corrupt and wants to steal all of our money before they kill us.

It is OUTRAGEOUS!

Sounds more like people that choose to move to new housing developments in farm country need to stfu about the byproducts of farms.

Ignorant towards her responsibilities to the people she was elected by perhaps? Ignorant towards the harmful effects of all those added chemicals? Blinded to anything negative by the money her husband would receive?

My money is on her being told by a presenting group from Monsanto about how chemicals make food happyfun and help the economy and git er jobs. Then they opened a briefcase of money.

Don't forget supporting a political party that loves obsessive and all inclusive draconian regulation, then being shocked when they get regulated out of business just like everyone else.

I wouldn't doubt it was exaggerated but the bill does place them under the control of a new organization that will no doubt be heavily heavily heavily lobbied by Monsanto.

If that happens and they're forced to follow the same rules as the steroid pumping, genetically engineered frankenfruit producers, it would be pretty harmful to them.

Most cases of E. Coli come from further down the distribution chain rather than how the product is grown.

I think you have your wharglbarl hose pointed the wrong way. Ever hear of a little piece of legislation called the Patriot Act? I can't think of anything ever enacted by Democrats that fits the description of "obsessive and all inclusive draconian regulation" like that jewel.

You are really off of your game lately. I think you might need a vacation away from your old man.

Epsilon: This is why they shouldn't let women into Congress. Can I get a "Hell yeah!"

Haha. Just got a flashback to Ann Coulter:
COULTER: If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women.

It also makes the point, it is kind of embarrassing, the Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it. I mean, you do see it's the party of women and 'We'll pay for health care and tuition and day care -- and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?'

She does love to get attention.

Actually, if this were to actually happen, people like my father (who are severely allergic to most pesticides, would essentially be screwed. As is stands, he can't even eat fruits or veggies that have certain pesticides put on them (yes, even if he washes and rinses them), cause his throat literally closes up.

So, fark you.

"If"? "If" your aunt had balls, she'd be your uncle. I don't evaluate prospective legislation on the basis of "if". If any government power that is subject to abuse is verboten, then we need to repeal all laws and abolish all government - because any governmental power at all is subject to abuse and corruption.
Mind you, I am not endorsing this law - is seems superfluous to me, since we already HAVE agencies which could be given better tools to insure food safety. But the hysterical distortion in TFA is just laughable, and that was my main point. I guess I'm getting a little bit weary of the perpetual lies of the Jesus-jumper contingent.
