First of all, Americans pay more federal taxes towards health care per capita than Canadians.

Secondly, when you check a book out at the library, is it free or do they charge you.

Health care in Canada is free in the same way library books are, park slides and police services. Of course it is paid for by taxes but as a user of the service it is free.

I am Canadian and I do have adequate health care. I was disputing the post that Canada pays high taxes for health care. Not true. Also, saying it is fair to call our health care free from a patient perspective.

It's actually really difficult to measure the dollars that go into the system and trace them to a particular country much less identify benefits that come from a particular investment. But supposedly the US spends far more per capita on medical research than any other nation. Now, if that's all being spent on studying erections and hair loss, then it may not mean much, but I think some of it may go toward cancer and suchlike.

I've been thwarted.

That was a very cool interview. As usual, it's obvious that Geddy (and by extension, Rush) doesn't take himself too seriously, contrary to the common opinion of people who don't really know anything about Rush. One thing I didn't know was that his parents were both Holocaust survivors. Interesting. As a huge Rush fan, I'm glad they both made it. :-)
