He probably hung on until the aerodynamic forces grew too strong and he was blown off (so to speak), which would have been relatively soon after launch, considering how fast that thing accelerates. It's possible he survived, but bloody unlikely.

I've done it a few times with bugs on my windscreen that refuse to get off. Increase the speed gradually to see if they can hang on. Best bug hit 80 mph until I got bored and hit him with the windscreen washer and wiper.

/small things please small minds

I guess the last remains of white ashes blew away about 50 feet later.

There's some serious heat happening directly underneath his ass.

Well it's NASA. A ladder during launch procedures would cost millions.

Besides, it's a fruit bat. They aren't exactly an endangered species. I think I killed one a couple years ago by accident when he flew into my head.

Bats are cool but not always very bright.

The crippled bat body on the shuttle disguised the vessel. They passed safely through reaver space.

Infinite Monkey 2009-03-18 10:03:31 AM
Article says a bat expert figured it had a broken wing, so the bat was likely on its way out anyway.

Frankly, if I was going to die anyway, spending my final minutes clinging to a launching space shuttle would be a pretty damn great way to go.

A CNN article on the same topic ended with "no word if the bat was still attached when the shuttle reached the space station." Reportertard doesn't know that the fuel tank is jettisoned in flight, it seems.

He would have possibly survived, but then fried to a crisp by the rocket exhaust.

A ladder against the *FOAM* insulation??? A ladder a few hundred feet long? That's a scrubbed launch!!

Furthermore, you don't play around with the rocket once it's been fueled!
