They wanna be adored? Again?

headline seems skeptical, article seems to confirm the statement.

Just don't let Iain sing live, get Reni off the smack, John out of the art studio and Mani out of the Variety Bar in Glasgow and it should be peachy.

Weigard 2009-03-17 12:18:46 PM
Yes.

Sounds like they had some money caught up in the Madoff meltdown.

They can do whatever they want as long as they don't play anything off the Second Album.

GossipTrain 2009-03-17 12:26:25 PM
They were my favorite band in high school. Saw the only Illinois show they ever played. This is good news....for everyone.

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 12:30:23 PM
Their first album is one of the greatest rock albums of all time.

"Second Coming" taught me a valuable lesson in life about hopes and dreams, and how they are sometimes dashed, and mocked, and humiliated, and disgraced.

I somehow don't think the Roses will ever be back.

bigbadideasinaction 2009-03-17 12:32:20 PM
Tigger: They can do whatever they want as long as they don't play anything off the Second Album.

Second Coming wasn't terrible, it was just bloated with several sound-alike songs. Dunno if they can recapture the magic though.

Tigger [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 12:32:58 PM
Confabulat

Please do not utter the name of that album. It is to be referred to only as The Stone Roses Second Album.

or "tigger's 9/11"

that self titled one of theirs was pretty darn good, if i do say so myself.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play Coachella. The first record is one of my favorites of all time. Ian Brown's solo albums are also really good.

//Lord knows, it would be the first time...

Tigger [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 01:22:46 PM
You've got red on you

Dubwise [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 01:26:13 PM
Te Stone Roses self titled record is one of the best ecords I have hear. EVAR! Excellent production on the record.

Second coming had some good tunes.

Browns solo work is decent...John Squires Seahorses record were better.

Saw mani play base with Primal Scream, excellent show.

DJ El Macho 2009-03-17 01:29:48 PM
i just wrote about this myself. really don't see it happening.

Tigger

Stop saying the Second Album was good.

Sorry. Will you forgive me, boy, as long as I don't leave town?

Tigger [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 01:44:44 PM
is that a Rolling Stones song?

Endzone108 2009-03-17 01:47:24 PM
Ooh, 'Stone Roses'.
Um, No.
'Second Coming'.
I like it!

Well, it's just that Moore and Squires have kinda... Publicity had the hate on for each other for years now.

Man, I really wish they'd put out a real/official live album. I have a couple bootlegs but they blow in terms of sound quality.

Reformation apparently now being denied by Brown's publicist

If they reformed today, it would probably only take them another 10 years to make an album. They record about as fast as Portishead.

How about "So Young" from "The Complete Stone Roses"?

Confabulat [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 04:11:34 PM
I punched in the "Complete Stone Roses" after reading this thread earlier.

Sally Cinnamon is ok too. But seriously, it's like that one CD was pure brilliance from end to end, and everything else is just sort of filler.

Certainly You Jest 2009-03-17 04:54:38 PM
The first Stone Roses record was pure brilliance--easily one of my very favorite rock records of all time. Second Coming was quite disappointing, alas...

What about a double bill alternating headlining with the Smiths?

finaboy 2009-03-17 04:55:58 PM
Who?

Pope_of_Chilitown 2009-03-17 05:16:09 PM
Why? Reunions are just Fool's Gold.

The Viewer 2009-03-17 05:25:27 PM
Perhaps it is because the first time I ever heard the Roses it was from their second album that I just don't understand the hate for it.
It turned me on to the band...so it can't be all bad, right mates?

/Let me put you in the picture, let me show you what I mean...
//"Fools Gold" still my favorite tho'.

trainonthebrain 2009-03-17 05:27:06 PM
Leave Second Coming alone. Any band would love to have written Ten Storey Love Song.

awfulperson [TotalFark] 2009-03-17 07:12:20 PM
Second Coming was fantastic.

/ducks

No, really, I'm not just saying it to start a flamewar.

/ducks again

Won't happen. But hoping it would.

I was intrigued to find out that in fact the Messiah is MY sister.

Shrugging Atlas 2009-03-17 09:34:07 PM
Yes please!

I can't think of a single band (aside from Midnight Oil for which I have a strange, never ending adoration) that I'd like to see get back together.

AgentOrangeDrink 2009-03-17 10:10:04 PM
Now we just need Parliament to start tripping on glue.

/Actual Parliament, not Funkadelic, they trip enough

subtlehavok 2009-03-17 11:01:53 PM
Every year, NME, or some crappy british tabloid takes something one of the stone roses says and turns it into a reunion. EVERY YEAR. Its not going to happen. Again.

Henry Holland 2009-03-18 02:50:00 AM
FTA:It first came out on March 13, 1989 and shot them to fame with hits including I Wanna Be Adored and I Am The Resurrection. It is regularly voted best album ever.

Hyperbole much? Googled Q magazine, Brit-centric and very fond of lists, and....1998: #4; 2003: #7; 2006: #6. Hmmmm...

At least the Mirror's source was honest: "The rest of the band were really up for it, especially when they realised the amount of money on the table". Ya think?

I'm not a big fan of a lot of current rock music, but damn, the nostalgia market is out of hand if a band that had one good, possibly great, album + a few nice singles is getting money thrown at them. If Robert Plant killed the Zeppelin reunion tour, as was rumored, then he deserves a nighthood for that.

danduran 2009-03-18 03:52:33 AM
This just in: false rumour is false. Ian Brown has rubbished it, again. Face it - it's less likely than the Smiths.

What, the sound constantly faded out and you could hear people talking near the bootlegger better then you could the singing? And the mastering / soundboards were so low that you had to turn the stereo up to 11 to hear it decently?

danduran: This just in: false rumour is false. Ian Brown has rubbished it, again. Face it - it's less likely than the Smiths.

Dammit. Through, news of a new Brown album is good.

Oh, and everyone? I liked Second Coming. Yeah, it wasn't as good as the first album. Yeah, it got air play, get over it hipsters.

Dear Jerk 2009-03-18 08:15:38 AM
I take it that for a Brit, saying you were around for the early Stone Roses is something like an American saying he was at Woodstock. Anyways, I had a song on my ipod that would pop up every so often, and by the middle of it I'd notice how awesome the jam was. It turned out to be Good Times from Second Coming. I have their first cd now, too, which is also great, though I still prefer Second Coming. But their first does have tons of hipster cred attached to it.

tartie_pants 2009-03-18 08:36:34 AM
Tigger: They can do whatever they want as long as they don't play anything off the Second Album.

THIS OMG THIS

and will they play the first date of the tour and then wait for 5656576 years for the second tour date?

Thats pretty much what it was like when I saw 'em.

DirkValentine 2009-03-18 11:21:22 AM

Nevermind
Angel Dust
Opiate

Funeral
Under The Table
Manic Expressive
