Drunk guys get stopped by the cops, and the driver is arrested. Cop looks at the other guys, says they're free to go. They drive off. New cops stop them about a quarter mile down the road, arrest THAT driver.

They will happily rinse, lather and repeat until the entire carload of drunks has been arrested for DUI.

Cops do this for a living, you are not fooling them. If your driver gets arrested and you've been drinking AT ALL, tell them to call you a cab, or better still call sober friends to come get you.

That's what I meant, sorry. All of my....involvement with police in Rockland County has been on a town level. All I know about the Sheriffs in Rockland is that they generally don't love the town cops who make a bit more on average than they do.

Have you seen the inside of the new (relatively) courthouse/Clarkstown PD station yet? I'm sure that building cost a pretty penny.

It seems like the Rockland county Sheriffs only get action when it literally drops in their lap.

There's this, where the DUI literally drove himself to the Sheriff. Then there was a few months ago that person who was leaving the Sheriff's station only to lead a high-speed chase that ended on Little Tor, when he hit someone else in a minivan.

How long has that courthouse and Police station been there? It's been there at least the six years I've been in Rockland, right? But I live in Haverstraw, and that police station is more like a trailer, like Stony Point's.

Here's an idea: if you've been drinking enough to be considered drunk, don't drive. Even if your driver is arrested for DUI.

Be quiet. Don't you know this is the cop-hating thread, where we all get together and blame cops the for all our perceived injustices? Where we all reject personal responsibility for the sake of a good time, or just plain laziness? Where we all biatch and complain that all cops are just out there on a power trip, while ignoring the fact that the only time you ever hear of the police on the news is when something has gone wrong, and that all the police that do there jobs well and fairly are never mentioned in the press at all?
