Cluster bombing Belfast is the only way to deal with these terrorists. Level 95% of the city and send them back to the stone age.

From what I heard, neither side is arguing about doctrine at this point; they're just fighting over who controls the drug trade and the petrol smuggling business.

It's a good think all those Ulster paramilitary groups disarmed. Oh, wait, they didn't?

The orange nutbars say one thing and then do another. Then, of course, they blame Sinn Fein for everything.

Americans are offering a solution:

"Keep Ireland White" by H. Michael Barrett

(The following article by H. Michael Barrett was published in the Summer 2000 / Issue 4 of Heritage and Destiny, the newsletter of the American Friends of the British National Party.)

"Eventually both Irish peoples will come to realize that a narrow and obsolete form of Irish Nationalism is being used as a wolf's cloak by the Marxists. Let the Irish peoples take up a more united cause, leaving behind the sectarianism caused by religious and class war, and oppose every political leader who allows nonwhites to pour in."

So what's wrong with Belfast? Is it a English/Irish rivalry thing or something else? I'm not being snarky, I'm just curious.

Ugh. BNP. Those guys are the UK's answer to Le Pen's goons over in France. There is a growing fascist streak over there, but it's not being reported on very much in the states.

Then again, we have plenty of white supremacist trash of our own on this side of the pond.

If you ever want spend a really depressing few minutes on a damning indictment on the UK, read the forum pages of The Sun, Britain's highest circulation newspaper. The number of BNP supporters is scary.

Actually, the quote I posted originally appeared in Issue 4 of Heritage and Destiny, the newsletter of the American Friends of the British National Party, so you can blame the Yanks for that piece of crap.

Through the centuries, more Irish people have died due to the policies and military of the British government than the other way around.

Ireland never invaded Britain.

Yep, I agree.

I don't really see why it's relevant when we're discussing a splinter group trying to derail the peace process though. That's not in Ireland's, Northern Ireland's or Britain's interests.

If you've got Gerry-farking-Kelly telling you that your violence is not helping Ireland or Republicanism, then you're doing it wrong and should STFU.

Enough about the problem; let's acknowledge those who are working on the solutions . . .

"The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that is devoted to peacebuilding and reconciliation in Ireland, North and South, Britain and beyond. The programme work builds peace and fosters reconciliation by facilitating dialogues, creating peace education resources, and much more. The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation was founded in 1974 as a response to violent conflict in Ireland, and in light of a conviction that non-violent solutions must be pursued to encourage reconciliation within and between communities."

Interesting. I hadn't heard of that centre before. It restores a little faith in humanity.

Although: look under 'funding'. They're partly funded by the "General Delegation of Palestine".

You know a situation is farked up when the Palestinians decide things are bad enough in your country that they should fund reconciliation initiatives...

im no fanboy. never read any comics. I still think zack snyder's movies are unwatchable trash. nothing makes any sense and there is never a discernible plot or character development. are they superheroes? no? just regular people? then why do they have super human strength? make up your mind.

Kil`ken´ny cats
n. 1. Two cats fabled, in an Irish story, to have fought till nothing was left but their tails. It is probably a parable of a local contest between Kilkenny and Irishtown, which impoverished both towns.
