Kotecks: I wish kickball didn't disappear after you got out of elementary school. Where are the professional leagues?

If I remember correctly, the game that gets played on the State lawn is an adult league made up of various corporations, counties, and whatnot. With that in mind, it's not all that crazy to deny them the right to tear up the State lawn for the very mild amount of community goodwill it brings. There are dozens of other parks within ten minutes of downtown Columbus, and like adult kickball players are really going to make a fuss if they have to move.

As someone that plays a lot of kickball in Columbus, I'm getting a kick out of...

Last year the statehouse games were canceled quite often. If there was any rain at all they canceled the games because the precious grass might be damaged. The other location for the games had some games canceled, but not nearly as many.

/Finds it hilarious that this is considered worthy of news

You should go again for the sole purpose of trying out the Maverick. It's not as tall as Millenium Force but it's steeper, has not one but two hydraulic launches, has more twists than a M. Night Shamalan anthology, and has a great view of the lake for about .3 seconds.

It didn't win a Golden Ticket for best ride in the U.S. for nothing. :D

Makes me think of that football movie, "The Program" I think, where the players had to lay on the lines on a busy street to show they were tough. I believe it was edited to remove that scene after some people died imitating it.

Ok, I'm going to stop here and say "No." The pros are The Ohio State University and the cons are The Bengals? Really? In recent years The Ohio State University has lost hundreds of recruits to other schools, and Marvin Lewis has driven the Bengals into the black again. Black Jesus has maybe one or two more years of above-average-suck-i-tude before he's fired for a mediocre yet profitable coach, making Bengals fans across the land cry with unrepentant sorrow.

I'm one of them, and i know of one other, so "four of them" is probably accurate. I've managed to buy more liquor with my out-of-state license because of my "BENGALS... AWESOME!" wallet sticker than any other. No sane person would attempt to buy liquor with a wallet sticker that says "BENGALS, AWESOME" unless the actually lived in Ohio.

I say this with the love of someone who has bengals.com bookmarked right next to Fark and though I have moved to the land of greener grass, I am still a rabid Cincy and OSU fan (I am stoked the Bengals picked up Laverius Coles but think the need a center and a takle in the first two rounds of the draft.. blah blah blah).

However if I had to pick the best team in Ohio, it would be the Buckeyes, and with the number of Bengals who have worn the other kind of stripes, I found the wordplay to delicious to skip.

There are plenty of adult rec leagues. It's a totally different game when you're old enough to drink.

In 1968, after watching the Buckeye football squad defeat Michigan and lock up the national championship, the Ohio State student body rushed the field, tore down the goalposts, carried them two-odd miles down High Street, and dumped them on the Statehouse lawn.

Really? My Ohio license plate says "Birthplace of Aviation".

Kitty Hawk, North Carolina's moment of fame in having the first test flight would have never been possible if they did not design the first working airplane in their bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio.

How many things in Kitty Hawk are named after the Wrights? In Dayton, there is Wright-Patterson AFB and Wright State University. Even the name athletic teams of the University of Dayton are the Dayton Flyers.
