Rick, since your adjective "strong" refers to the plural "fundamentals" you should use "are" not "is". By making this change, you would sound .001% less like an idiot.

He is right in wanting to bolster confidence--because much of the market fluctuation that is going on is from folks who are antsy and still spooked. People who are spooked don't wait to invest, they are looking for any indicator that they should GET OUT NOW BEFORE I CAN ONLY AFFORD TO RETIRE IN FRICKIN' JERSEY AND LIVE OFF CAT FOOD!

But, you have to also be pragmatic about the approach. There is a fine line between wanting to appear confident and reassuring, and looking delusional, misguided, and entirely out of touch with your electorate.

Right now, he's leaning a little far over that line.

Gsm136 [TotalFark] 2009-03-12 05:58:57 PM
Well it makes him smarter than the idiots who voted for him.

Ladies and Gentlefarkers, I give you: Santorum (NSFLunch)

I'll never get sick of seeing this picture from the night he lost the election. There was an epic Fark thread about this picture too, a caption contest I think. A cookie if you can find it.

I love it. Every time I see that photo I get a little more convinced that there is a loving God out there, who wants me to be happy.

Perhaps he meant to refer to the "fundamentalists" as being strong.

Cake Hunter [TotalFark] 2009-03-12 07:10:33 PM
I wonder what his house smells like.

Does he have the constant beef soup thing or are they the kind of people who stash mothballs in their closets, then get numb to the smell, and then invite people over who are not numb to it who say "people still use moth balls? What the hell." I don't know. For some reason I just think it smells like peaches. Maybe a potpourri thing or a yankee candle on the stove. Peach. Maybe some vanilla in the den.

Marcus Aurelius [TotalFark] 2009-03-12 07:18:03 PM
Considering that he's living on millions of dollars of bribes that he took in as a Senator, you know he's hoping we don't get to the point where the proles start lynching the ruling classes.

wtf is a "fundamental" of the economy? Why is Rick Santorum even politically relevant anymore?

Triaxis 2009-03-12 09:29:55 PM
His name is only a slang word among the freaktard left loons, so no, his name isn't a slang word.

Peter von Nostrand 2009-03-12 09:30:27 PM
It almost pains me that, by and large, this guy has faded away. The vacuum of pure comedy gold, the joy, the laughs he brought to so many just hasn't been filled by another right winger. Oh, there's a few candidates (I'm looking right at you, Cantor) but nothing quite to his level of sheer WTFROTFLCOPTER!!1!!1 level of craziness.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2009-03-12 09:31:15 PM

Those same freaktard left loons probably deny that the fundamentals of Bristol's and Levi's relationship are strong!

/she should have squeezed out a little Santorum instead of a lot of Tripp

That's because when Republicans have buttsex they keep it on the down-low. They'd use the word if they talked about it afterwords.

I'm so conflicted. The kind, empathetic human in me feels so sorry for that little girl. Not sorry for her unhappiness, but sorry that not only is she dressed like her doll, it's also a hideous outfit to boot. And also that she's going to be a really effed up young woman. In those moments, I fervently hope she is able to throw off the shackles of her father's idiocy.

Then the snarky evil me remembers it doesn't care.

nubian do you KNOW how expensive it is to live in Jersey now? Try...Ohio. Or Detroit. Or something.

Anyway. It's nice to see that this thread has quite a few people frothing at the mouth (though with some of y'all, I have to wonder whether your mouths have been interchanged with your asses).

Pretty much THIS. I had to go look at his wiki page to remember who he was (is? I got's to larn Ingrish).

I still don't have any specific memories of him. Other than being a neotard and a homophobe, is there anything particularly egregious for which he is remembered? And why did the Goode Citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania turn him out with such a huge farking tar and feathering?

NorCal hippie minds want to know.
