She works for MSNBC so of course it doesn't count. Because MSNBC loves Obama and helped pull the wool over the Supreme Court's eyes by securing the machinery necessary to forge Obama's birth certificate and imprint an accurate Seal of Hawaii.

/You'd be surprised what Keith Olbermann screams when he comes.
//Rachel Maddow is Barney Frank in drag. Don't tell anyone!

to them, obama is b-rock "the islamic shock" hussein superallah obama, because they have his actual birth certificate hidden away.

Surprisingly, Mitchell concurred. "I take your point, Mr. Frank, Mr. Chairman. You're right, and we plead guilty because this culture right now of gotcha has gotten completely out of control."

Yes Mr. Frank... whatever you say Mr. Frank. Of course we shouldn't bring forth truth but rather just rubber stamp all of your party's picks in the future. Please accept our collective apology.

If Democrats, and Barney Frank for that matter, had any balls they would stand up to this farce of a President. The Federal Government needs to stop spending money. BUSH PROVED REGULATIONS DON'T WORK. Why do you want to pay for appointments who won't do anything?

That may be but its Obama who nominating and Democratic Senators who get the say on the consent.

Its a little wishy washy to agree with Frank that its somehow wrong to point out fact as an excuse when they don't have the balls to pass them anyway.

Fox News is the most watched news channel, ergo it is the definition of MAINSTREAM.
Fox News is a conservative right leaning news channel, ergo the mainstream media is conservative.

They all have their bias, but to say that Fox News and Rush are the little guy is about as pathetic as Microsoft saying that Apple produces the mainstream liberal OS.

Which is BS.

I find the fact that they accuse others of Bias whilst ignoring their own is disingenuous to say the least.

But they know they are full of shiat. It is their flock, that is well, not the sharpest tool in the shed. Well sharp as a bowling ball.

Oh, and does anyone except the Repubs still believe in the 'liberal media' bullshiat?

Could someone please remind me what is the big deal with "scandals" coming out during confirmation hearings?

Isn't that the whole point? To uncover any problems or misconduct so that it doesn't come up AFTERWARDS and call their abilities into question?

Isn't this a good thing that they're not slipping under the radar?

And does anyone honestly think we wouldn't be finding skeletons in the closets of Republicans tapped for various positions?

sigh. The butthurt is pathetic.

It's funny that even when a liberal media news outlet admits that there is liberal bias in the news media, the liberals still deny the obvious while running around trying to silence talk radio with a "Fairness Doctrine".

Liberal/Conservative media bias is just hype. The only legitimate bias is the controversy/conflict/sex-that-give-us-ratings bias. Going after the Obama nominees gets ratings. If it didn't, they wouldn't do it. Plain and simple.

News is a business, and they don't make money reporting good things. If one of the networks tends to appeal to individuals of a one side of the ideological spectrum, that's a business decision, not a byproduct of the journalists' personal political perspectives.

The only reason all these scandals are erupting is this is the most public, transparent vetting of candidates ever. If/when the Republicans reclaim the presidency, they're going to do the whole thing behind closed doors and frog-march their people out for a quick approval vote.

You can't ascend to the heights of society without stepping over a lot of bodies.

FTA

Mitchell asked Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) about Thomas Friedman's New York Times column that morning, in which he called it "insane" that "dozens of key appointments at the Treasury Department" are held up over minor infractions.

Oh really? Would it be a minor infraction if the rest of us just didn't pay our taxes?

Gotcha jounalism my ass - that was suckup journalism, plain and simple.

Try playing the tape of Bawney Fwank about Freddie and Fannie, then you ask some pointed questions you biatch!

Andrea Mitchell's abnormally large mouth is only good for one thing.

"MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell admits media's been practicing gotcha journalism on Obama nominees..."

So? Journalism is about "gotcha". A politician says something stupid/naive and the Fourth Estate plasters it all over the walls for everyone to hear. That's their farking job - bringing politicians/politics to us because we have real jobs and can't follow the turds around by ourselves.

cchris_39: Try playing the tape of Bawney Fwank about Freddie and Fannie, then you ask some pointed questions you biatch!

Andrea Mitchell's abnormally large mouth is only good for one thing.

Let's play the tape where Barney Frank, as head of a committee (before 2005, when the collapse first started), blocked, stopped, held up, killed, or otherwise gummed up - SINGLEHANDEDLY - oversight of Mae/Mac. You can't. Wanna know why? He wasn't head of a committee, and wasn't in a position to do anything more than speak his mind. Ask Mike Oxley (R-OH) what could/should have been done.

// also, "Frank says that he and Republican Congressman Ron Paul 'first bonded because we were both conspicuous nonworshipers at the Temple of the Fed and of the High Priest Alan Greenspan.'"
// leathery food for thought, non?

cirby 2009-03-12 11:37:51 AM
before 2005, when the collapse first started

Nice attempt there. Good move.

That way, you can ignore the tapes of Barney Frank telling us that it was not really a problem.

You also managed to skip the large role he played in actually passing the several pieces of legislation that triggered a lot of the problems.

And the biggest scam you almost pulled was pretending that Frank wasn't the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee in 2003, and pretty much single-handedly blocked the early attempts to put some brakes on the issue.

The money quote from that year, when he was fighting to prevent additional oversight: "The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing."

barneyfifesbullet 2009-03-12 11:51:10 AM
The media play GOTCHA with everyone, except Obama.

Obama has gotten a free ride unlike anything ever seen before. The backlash will kick in eventually.
