How can he be doing right.

Republicans and Democrats slam him.

There's nothing besides Republicans and Democrats. Anything else is anti-American.

It's a hard job, and he's having some diffculty on the front end. It would be nice if his learning curve wasn't quite so expensive, but I imagine he'll improve.

Senescent Dawn 2009-03-11 11:23:09 AM
All right, let's see... Obama has the religious loonies convinced he's the Antichrist, and now the union loonies think Obama is going to break them up. I really hope that several billion dollars are earmarked to hire and train more Secret Service men.

If you can't get behind firing bad teachers, there's something seriously wrong with you.

On the flip side - knowing his opinion on the Iraq war - why wouldn't you trust Obama's honest assessment that 50k soldiers is the minimum amount required to maintain security at this juncture? ...unless you now think Obama flat-out lied to you during the election, or that he is lying now. And if that's the case, AND you voted for him, well that means you must be a **** and/or a bad judge of character, no?

Seriously, wake me up in a year and I'll let you know how I think he's doing. Until then, pissing off the hardliners and posers in both parties is A-OK with me.

But the DOW was up HUGE yesterday, so he must have been doing a good job.

THAT'S bipartisan!

No, when everyone is mad at you, you are probably doing something something very right or very wrong. The question is, which one?

His words are great. Now time for results.

Plus, you can have an awesome coach but if you're team sucks (or no team as in his current lack of subordinates), then you won't win.

Probably one of each.

Chances are each side is upset with something different.

It's called "multitasking".

The more he goes and pisses off more sides, the better off this country is going to be.

Anybody stop to think he really meant it when he's said multiple time that "we're all going to have to help"? That means everyone, Republicans, Democrats, Teachers, Police, CEO's etc. EVERYONE. Including you and me.

The country wanted personal responsibility and now he's taking everyone to task on it.

Sounds great to me.

THIS - I will give you - such a great headline.

Few things are better than when the pres is at odds with congress.

Do nothing and we will be ok.

Apparently Christian Bale is also done with Obama... professionally. Overheard, Bale said he had an "idear" that Obama has always been an "amateur". He is a nice guy, according to Bale, but just just doesn't farking get it.

Obama is doing well in my opinion. I still cringe when I think of what McCain would be doing.

taoistlumberjak 2009-03-11 01:04:58 PM
I think the best result is, in 2 years, Obama comes out to the American people and campaigns actively for 3rd parth candidates by saying "hey, these congress people are crazy!"

/and I want a Porsche
//and $10 million

What exactly is Obama doing "well"?

I guess he gives better speeches than we are used to but is that what you are talking about?

Truncks1: Obama is doing well in my opinion. I still cringe when I think of what McCain would be doing.

Closing down Gitmo.
Lifting the stem-cell research ban.
Iraq exit strategy.

Not bad for someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

The Stimulus Package is kind of a pain, but at least he managed to attach a few strings to it so any CEOs that benefit from it can't use it recklessly.

But hey, despite the prejudice I'm often subjected to around here, I do support capitalism... Provided it's practiced responsibly. True fiscal responsibility includes ethical behavior.

I liked quite a few things. Now keep in mind I have reasonable expectations. I do not think he is Jesus and I do not think he is going to do exactly what I want. I also keep in mind he hasn't been in office that long.

Now specifically, I thought the stimulus was a step in the right direction. I do not believe that tax cuts will solve all our problems. Letting these companies fail by doing nothing would not be a good idea either, unless we want to repeat the mistakes of Japan. I have some problems with the bill and yes there is pork in it, but this is always the way it has worked. The hard right says they should eliminate all the pork, when many of them put stuff in there themselves. It's not perfect, but the government never has been.

I also liked the way he handled Gitmo and I think his plan for Iraq is a good compromise. I'm interested in exactly how his health care plan and education plan go, I know the general plan, but not enough to critique it. If you're really interested in my opinion on another policy decision, let me know.

I'm glad he's stirring up a fuss. Change doesn't come by the President kissing every congressperson's (especially his own party's) butts. Good for him.

NobleHam 2009-03-11 01:47:20 PM
I keep hearing nothing but complaints and attacks on Obama, but his approval ratings are still fairly high. He's getting slammed by Republicans and some Democrats are unhappy or disappointed with certain things, but in general he's doing fine and most people see that.

I'm pretty much dead center between liberal and conservative, so the more people he ticks off in the both parties the more I like him.

Probably won't give him a smooth road, but at least he's trying.

Forget TFA, did you even read the headline? It's not placation if you're pissing everyone off.

and also:

Are you seriously arguing that the largest spending bill in history is "nothing at all"? Cause I think you're the only one.

No, it is a response to the part of the headline that says, he must be doing something right.

Now he just posts 5 word sentences, or that dumb gif.
