Well, she is a scary stupid drug-farked crazy whore slag, but I have to say her music is really damn good, and she has (had?) a great voice.

I saw her live at the Palladium on BBC America recently, and was pleasantly surprised by how good she really was.

Crazy drug-fueled antics aside I do actually enjoy her music, she has a great voice. I saw her live about 2 years ago in Chicago and she sounds pretty good.

Maybe, but she's in no condition to put on a good show, and definitely not in the same class as the Orb, who've been doing this for over 20 years. The Chemicals aren't exactly slouches either.

Of course, none of these guys snort coke on stage like Winehouse.

Alex might light a spliff up though.

Drug antics aren't okay. There is, however, a real difference between someone who can handle it, and someone who can't.

Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty are pretty good examples of people who can't hold their shiat together. The resulting train wrecks aren't even funny to watch. Just sad.

That said, Amy Winehouse is an evil whore beast, and you deserve the crotch gangrene you will get if you farked that nasty ass crackwhore.

Not really an accurate title.
These additions were lined up before Crackhouse dropped. These acts will perform in the Sahara tent not on the mainstage (total of 5 stages at Coachella.)
Pretty much still expecting an addition or 2 to the main stage as Saturday is the weakest day of the 3 as far as main stage acts.

/Coachella geek and proud of it!!!

The toilet facilities have also been scaled back this year, with the usual blocks of chemical latrines replaced by a foul-smelling open sewer overflowing with human waste and countless diseases. Or, as she likes to refer to herself, Submitter's mom.

Yes indeed, Amy Winehouse has an insanely great voice. And the regular ol' insanity part is endlessly entertaining, too. But failmitter's understanding of electronica bites the shank.

larsinio 2009-03-11 11:26:56 AM
1. Electronica is a general term created by CD stores in order to move units
2. Chemical brothers own, how dare you compare them to Coachella or Amy Winehouse
3. The Orb are also amazing, although they do so much ambient stuff I dont know how you could put them in teh same boat.
4. Chemical brothers have good concerts, although they do relatively short sets.

Pengfish 2009-03-11 11:35:07 AM
Once again, Amy Winehouse has been biting Sharon Jones for years.

Subby is a fool to poke fun at The Orb.

Yeah...because making electronic music is just that simple.

Idiots.

Glitchwerks 2009-03-11 11:55:47 AM
larsinio: 1. Electronica is a general term created by CD stores in order to move units

It wasn't CD stores so much as it was the music industry who was trying to find a way to market the music. People argued over the term "techno" and "intelligent dance music" wasn't working either. Artists who got a huge push from the early 90's "electronica" nonsense include the Orb, Aphex Twin, and even the Chemical Brothers themselves. Now that the money is all gone, the only electronic music that gets signed to a major label is stuff like Daft Punk. Those guys created the most brilliant marketing image ever, and fans eat it up.

That early marketing buzz is dead and gone now. If it was still around, artists like DeepChord/Echospace would be as popular as the Orb were in their day. People would be talking about Pulshar and Burial nonstop instead of Tiesto and Van Buuren. Oh well.

I got this awesome t-shirt from an Orb show oh, 15 years ago. It was pretty ratty when I mentioned it on Fark 7 years ago, and it's even more pitiful now. It's really simple, it's just a stylized "Orb" spelled out in glow-in-the-dark crescent moons on a black shirt.

I wish I could find a pic of it online. I still wish I could find a replacement. Maybe I can counterfeit one...

/hi, kids! I've got shirts older than you!

I was going to try to educate the submitter about the musical genius of The Orb, but I'll defer to costas' description of submitter's mother as the more relevant item.

THIS. Saturday was already weak before Winehouse's cancellation. I can't imagine someone else won't be added (though I thought that last year about Jack Johnson. Ugh.)

Seems like Depeche Mode and U2 are reasonable candidates. Dream candidates - White Stripes, Blur, the Smiths.

//Will be my 2nd year going. Can't wait for Leonard Cohen.
///Hopefully they put Franz on the main instead of that Bright Eyes tool

konigsforst: you really think so? i recall things like oakenfold, sascha, tosca, thievery corp being really popular in the 90's. while basic channel and other greats were nearly ignored.

Basic Channel wasn't exactly ignored, they chose to ignore everyone and everything else. If you go back, you'll find Moritz von Oswald in particular was all over the place. Producing Juan Atkins records, producing with Thomas Fehlmann (former Orb member) and so on. I'm pretty sure the dude could have been as big as Richie Hawtin is now, except he chose not to. I'm really, really surprised Rhythm & Sound didn't become really popular though, as I thought Massive Attack fans would flock to it.

Millzners: Hey, I just found that dude Tretemoller or whatever, what do you think of him? I don't really like deep house but his stuff is interesting.

Actually I keep meaning to listen to his stuff, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet and I'm rather embarrassed by that fact.

Trentmoller is good, especialyl his esential mix.

Burial is acutalyl very popular in the UK, but i'm tno really into dub-step stuff.

I'm currently into Girl Talk which is glitch/mashup, MGMT, teh Crookers (going to see them apr 21)

..patrioticly minded Azerbaijanis,

jų populiarusis frontas,
their Popular Front,

which would be equivalent to our Sajudis.

A headline like that makes me wonder how the submitter positions himself/herself when it comes time to vote.
