(Contact Music) Sad Metallica's James Hetfield falls ill from "mysterious" disease. Maybe it's just whiplash, hopefully it's not sending him stone cold crazy to the sanitarium or worse, creeping death. Either way, sad but true   (contactmusic.com) divider line 64

I don't care how you feel about Metallica or what personal grudge you may hold against them - Hetfield has influenced too many other artists and without him or Metallica, the world would be a lot less metal.

/hating on Metallica is so 1999.
//that's ten years
///being pissed off at a band for ten years is farking stupid.

Dear Subby...

Stone Cold Crazy is a cover of a Queen song...

Please repent and admit your mistake or the ever powerful spirit of Freddy will come to both spank and make you readjust your world view.

The living Brian May might show up also. And you do not want to mess with that hair.

Thank you for your time,
Baka.

The new album is what should have came out right after Justice. I think I'm going to just forget they every thing from the Black album until Death Magnetic.

I am glad to see them back...it was a long wait! Anyone know if they are touring the states again after the Euro tour?

Metallica not only covered this but also played it WITH Brian May at Freddy's farewell concert. Or are you being sarcastic? If you are, ya got me. ;)

He co-wrote The Four Horsemen along with Lars and Dave.

Hetfield is the farking KING of rhythm guitar; no one chugs like him and while many wanker guitarists grovel at the feet of shred masters and lightning-fast scale practitioners, Hetfield is the heart and soul of Metallica. Any guitarist worth his salt knows and respects the man for what he has brought to metal.

Nothing against Kirk, but you could slide any noodler into his spot and nothing would change, but remove the chest-kicking, horse stampede downstroke that is James and there would be no Metallica at all.

wat? You don't think a million dollar stage setup would make any random power chord played by anyone sounds like the Apocalypse? Eleventy billion rhythm guitarists bring the same thing that overblown windbag does to the table.

FirstNationalBastard 2009-03-09 10:33:12 AM
So, if Hetfield's disease becomes contagious and goes airborne, and he infects a lot of people, will he then become the Leper Messiah?

No, they bring it THANKS to that overblown windbag. Metallica has long outstayed their welcome, but Hetfield's style has influenced thousands and thousands of today's players. No one was doing it as good as he was back in the day.

Um, please entlighten us morons. What kind of million dollar stage setup was Hetfield using when they recorded "Kill 'Em All" and "Ride the Lightning"?

Say what you will (and I only "like" Metallica now as opposed to them being my favourite band around the Cunning Stunts era) but the band is legendary, will always be iconic, and contributed a shiatload to the metal genre.

And Death Magnetic is actually a decent metal album. It's no Testament or Dethklok, but still :P

Because that would be hilarious.

The comment about Creeping Death reminded me of something - I want a banjo version of Creeping Death. That would rock.

There are some good acoustic versions of that song out there. No banjo though. Search for the golden unplugged album.
