If only he would realize that he needs some smart people advising him; that he can't do everything (or anything) himself. Obama got elected because those two "streets" were failing; he has been in office like 7 weeks. I can't imagine that there has ever been a person in any point in history who could have taken over the presidency with these conditions and turned things around in that amount of time.

Actually, things appeared to be fixable. Bernanke was (is) the wrong guy but Paulson knew (knows) what he is doing. Obama seemed to want to exert his control immediately and let things sit unaddressed for a while. It was a mistake. It got to the point where people thought he knew what he was doing and trusted in him. No man can fix this alone despite what he led many to believe. Obama is not enough. He does not have the firepower or the experience. The worst is that he's not seeking it out.

If you can't wrap your brains around "capitalism vs socialism", try "competition vs. cooperation". Human society works best when you have a balance between the two forces. Too much competition and the social bonds that allow society to exist break apart. Too much cooperation and all incentive to advance disappears. The question is not "competition or cooperation", it's finding the proper balance between the two.

Obama should have made him define "socialism" first, so he could laugh at what would almost surely be his incredibly ignorant answer before embarrassing the guy in his own column.
