Allow me to go on FARK record as saying, I am a Republican, but Rush does not speak for me. He needs to go back on the Oxy and fade

Who cares. It's not like his ratings have gone down. I just think it's funny that he's getting all this free press.

Yeah, the whole "20 million people listen to Rush" is one of the biggest bullshiat numbers out there.

He's certainly not along among radio guys in inflating numbers of listeners, though.

WTFDYW: Allow me to go on FARK record as saying, I am a Republican, but Rush does not speak for me. He needs to go back on the Oxy and fade

Yeah, but fade is only a temporary aggro dump. Pain suppression (aka - Oxycotin) is a permanent aggro loss of 5% but the long cooldown makes it useful only at the end of a long boss fight.

what? stop looking at me that way....

All joking aside, I would really like to see Limbaugh's rating(s) data over the past say...6 years. it's difficult to find accurate data on his real numbers, which is kind of a shame since I think there might be some interesting facts buried in the boring accounting details of how he runs his business.

Allow me to go on record stating I would rather have the piece of crap in my toilet than Limbaugh on my radio, the crap's remnant stench erodes faster than Limbaugh's.

I would think the Arbitrons would tell the tale. Not snarking, shouldn't his ratings data be publicly available? I don't work in radio, so I don't know.

From time to time I go looking for Limbaugh's arbitron data. What i've found is either contradictory, incomprehensible or requires a fee to access. But I really haven't mounted any serious effort to see just how Rush's rating data has been moving over the past couple of years, so there's that.

Good for America. When the far-right wing congeals around this fat fark, it will officially be the end of the Republican party. It will either split or become more irrelevant (is this even possible). The real question is, who will become the 2nd Party in the US.

shower_in_my_socks [TotalFark] 2009-03-08 04:02:01 PM
I expect his ratings to have increased considerably. And this is good for the Democrats -- that's the point.

Limbaugh is the perfect embodiment of everything that is holding the Republicans down. He's a fat, rich, elitist, old white dude with a history of making misogynistic and racist statements. And he's the poster-boy for the divisive Rovian culture wars that were successful for a few years, but that have now sunk the GOP in back-to-back elections.

If the Republicans were able to make Michael Moore the face of Liberalism again, it would have the same damaging effect.

If Republicans don't follow Rush, why did so many of them last week line up to apologize to him and curry favor?

A fat drug addict sex tourist leads your party now. America needs the old fiscal conservative Republican back, not the blowhard war mongering spend and spend ones we have.

$59 bucks to his letter and 24/7 or $35 for the letter is a better way to show support for open airwaves and its a small price to pay to drive lefties nuts.

If the economy starts bouncing back and the republicans keep on farking themselves some weird stuff will happen. The more moderate elements in the republican party could combine with the more moderate elements in the Democratic party. You would probaby have a true 3 party system for awhile and they would probably for back in to a two party system a few years later. As long as you don't become more socialist than Canada you will be OK and it is reversable. If you are lucky you will at least get universal health care out of it and your businesses will finally become competitive in the world again.

Here's what Rush has to say:

The latest numbers I have are for January, well before this kerfuffle began, and they are through the roof -- six shares in NY, for example. There are daily ratings taken now in about the top 15 markets but I have not seen them yet. All I can tell you is that as of January, we booked 80 percent of all our 2008 revenue and we'll be over 2008 by the end of this month. Link

If what people search for on the internets is any indication, Google Trends says that Rush Limbaugh is about as popular as The Daily Show, and that all this 'GOP head' stuff caused a spike that lasted two or three days.

The Daily Show gets about 2 milion viewers a night. So maybe next Jon Stewart will be the head of the Democratic Party. I'd vote for that.

Your analogy is flawed. The teacher in this example is already a failure.

A teacher trying to teach your child math using lego bricks for counting versus drawing lines on a chalk board would be a better example. You may hate or disagree with the teacher's method but do want them to fail.

The longer the democrats can keep the debate circling Rush, the longer they will continue to whip the ass of the Republicans. The Republican appeal to the far right ring is why they lost the last election (one of the main reasons anyways). As long as the party continues to appeal to listernship of Rush, the longer they will fail. They will become equivalent to a Nader, Perot or Paul circle-jerk.

flannelled fool 2009-03-08 04:22:08 PM
I really think the (D)'s are making a huge mistake with vilifying Rush and "Wall Street" (as in equating it to a handful of execs who received million dollar bonuses) right now. If the economy was level or moving up a tad, it would be one thing, but when headlines are pronouncing half million job losses per month, the stock market is still tanking, and Obama does a photo op where 25 jobs are saved by the stimulus package - well I don't know how long the honeymoon is going to last. Being considered 'out of touch' can be a tough handle to shake.

I think I watched Rush on TV once in the 90's. Haven't heard him on the radio.

But what do I know, the Dems must be on to soemthing. If we could just get all the Republican Congressmen to severe the psychic link with Rush, all of our problems would be solved. because Rush Limbaugh caused this mess.

That's Rush...Limbaugh.

First name: Rush, last name: Limbaugh.

And whatever you do, don't forget about Rush Limbaugh. Also known as the king of repubs and conservatives. LImbaugh.

I've been thinking along the same lines. Limbaugh isn't the GOP's leader, only the DNC and DNC braindead followers are saying that.

But if the same standards apply to an entertainer whose shtick is part politics, part preachiness, part comedy, and part dishonesty (you can't be entertaining if you don't repeatedly stretch the truth), then the closest left equivalent is Jon Stewart.
