If you strike the words "his cigarette" from that headline, it's really, really great.

LOL

Seriously - as a smoker, I have to agree with the fire extinguisher. I know it's a terribly intrusive habit - and if someone asked me to put my cig out, I'd either do it or go somewhere downwind of them. I would never smoke in someone's home, unless the whole place reeked of tobacco already - you'll never get the scent out if you start.

My mother used to be married to a man who came to see her in the hospital, right after heart surgery, and fired up a cigarette. In the room.

She divorced him.

I'm not a rabid anti-smoker myself, but I'd say that kind of behavior is a deal-breaker.

It only took me three years of aggressive cleaning and airing to remove the tobacco stank from our apartment. We took the place over from a heavy smoker, even found a half a pack of Newports behind a radiator. We went through six bottles of 409 when we cleaned the place before moving our stuff in, and I re-oiled and repolished every floor manually (seriously, I got the place old lady clean). And STILL you could smell a little of it if it was particularly hot or damp.

If we had had carpeting the stench would have never come out. Steam cleaning never gets all of it.

/both parents smoke, so I know a thing or two about how to clean that stuff. :P

The idiot smoker is the one who should have been arrested, for attempted murder.

Arrestin? I was hoping for an incestin. That would have been more interesting.

If you are smoking, I'll assume you are on fire and take appropriate action.

I've been thinking of switching to one. If anyone pops in who uses one, I'd like to hear your comments on them...

Next time use an Ansul CLEANGUARD® Fire Extinguisher with DuPont FE-36®. The extinguishing agent is clean, electrically nonconductive, environmentally-friendly, extremely low in toxicity, and exceptionally effective. Furthermore, since it "flashes" from a liquid to a gas (without thermal shock) there would be no visible traces of its use, thus nothing for the cops to witness.

The only downside is the damn things are pretty expensive, ranging from $200-$1000 depending on the size.

Depends on whose place it was...if it was the smoker's, sit in jail. If it was not the smoker's place, f-you. You NEVER light up without explicit consent. And even then, you do your best to not bother anyone. You go outside if it's not Alaska with 100mph winds even if the host does not ask.

If I was drunk and lit up in someone's place without consent and they called the fire department without notifying me to spray me with a hose that could skyrocket me to the moon, I would not complain.

Using a C02 extinguisher is fine. Lots of vapor and noise. Really makes an impression, and no cleanup.

Those crummy ones that blow out that sickly yellow powder, you bet yer ass THAT'S a jailin'!

What a pussy brother. Seriously. I would complain an biatch... but call the police on my brother for that?

My gramma, one of 13 kids, had a crazy brother who grew up to marry an even crazier woman. They are responsible for the crazy, twisted branch of the family tree that has stunted, weird leaves. Out of 7 kids, they had 2 oafs, 2 derelicts, 2 "special" ones who were obnoxious and 1 semi normal one. Yes, they were family :( They creeped me and my immediate family out at every family reunion. I was not sorry to move away from them.....

...As I did when I moved away from CA way back when. I have made a habit of checking my hometown paper online now and then. About 3 years ago, I am doing my thing at 0700 EST and I read a headline in the Sacramento Bee about how a brother smothered his brother to death because the offending brother's music was too loud and his cigarette smoke too offensive. Wouldn't you know? The only semi-normal one was killed by one of the oafs (oaves?). I was like "Holy shiat! Little John killed Mario!" I had to wait 3 hours to CA time to tell mom the news. So, the only sane twig of that crazy branch of my family tree in CA is snuffed out. Over loud music and a cigarette.

I am sorry to say that I am saddened that the only "normal" one of the bunch was the one who got taken out, and the moon-faced mouth breathers are alive and kicking. Am I horrible for thinking that?

Sadly, that's usually how it turns out. The saying "the good die young" actually has some basis in truth.

I smoke.

I would never, ever light up inside somebody else's home (unless they also smoked and had an ashtry of butts right on the coffee table), nor would I even ask.

/Take it outside, period.

cedarpark 2009-03-08 03:07:34 AM
Since they heard the scream, and ran in to see him covered in white powder, I think it's safe to say they were responding to the 'domestic disturbance' already. They must have been fighting for several minutes, and the guy with the extinguisher was unlucky in his timing.

Why exactly did this guy get arrested? Does the white from a fire extinguisher injur or hurt in any way? Who's place was it anyways? The guy who got arrested? Caus if that is the case the cops should have just asked Smokey the Bear to leave. This guy has every right to protect his personal environment, property from damage, and personal air consumption.

According to the Air Force, the Halon 1211 in fire extinguishers is toxic until it breaks down.

/But then, so is cigarette smoke, and no one arrests smokers...

On the bright side he only sprayed his brother with it, at least he didn't go all goat-c on his a$$

I love the fact that the cops heard the "victim" screaming. What a twat. He should have beaten him with the extinguisher.

"Held without bail" too. Way to go cops~!

In that closeup of the guy arrested it appears as if he's got a scar across his throat. Maybe the drama between the brothers goes back farther than the article led us to believe??
