I had some middle school teachers who would have rioted if there weren't a teachers' smoking lounge.

A black man self-titled "Gorilla"? Of course Texans love him. It's almost as if something is wrong with that place. Almost.

At the very end of the story, they say that Gorilla Zoe states he provided the kids with a different poster from the one they were going all apeshiat about; "a cleaned up version".

So which is it? Is this another non-story trumped up into hysteria? Did the new station not even bother to pursue the issue of exactly what poster the kids received?

No rap "artist" could possibly teach school-age children anything. If you have nothing educational to do for them let them go home.

Most of these kids are going to end up in prison anyway so I think this poster is right on target.

Did their parents forget how much they enjoyed rap when they were younger.

This could almost be an Onion story. Almost. But there can't be parental outrage. It should just be "Rapper Give Motivational Speech to Young Students." And consist of him talking about completely inappropriate topics and the poster could be an image in the article.

Of course he's a worrier. He has a lot to worry about. I don't know what a "famos" musician is, but it's always stressful to pioneer a new style of music.
So leave him alone.

/And leave Britney alone - she has enough to worry about too.

Rap is not music/art/poetry. it's a bunch of made up events, of fictional places and times, that dumbass kids think is real.

Want real? slap yourself and get a job. Get mugged by some rap fan. Have him take your earnings. or worse, fight him off and get sued.

Real as it get's.

Rap is a disease.

aphexcoil5: This is perfectly acceptable. However, we need to institute new policies that enforce school uniforms. We also need to crack down on violence, sexual contact and drug usage.

Put into place new "zero tolerance" rules. If a kid is found near, around or with any form of possible weapon, drug or condoms, we need to kick those kids out permanently (along with their siblings, because failure is genetic.)

We need to put a stop to this crap immediately. A school is a place for learning and prayer -- not sexually excited people high on some drug while brandishing a weapon.

So someone the kids actually might care about came to encourage them to work hard in school and make more opportunities for themselves than he did? But *gasp* he drinks and smokes and...carries a gun (in Texas no less!). How horrible!

Listen parents, grown-ups smoke, drink and sometimes have firearms. Also, not everyone your kids admire will be perfect in every way. This doesn't mean that they don't have anything useful to teach them. It's up to you to make your kids understand why smoking, excessive drinking, and irresponsible use of firearms can be harmful, not just raise a fuss whenever anyone who isn't squeaky clean comes around them. Guess what? You have your own vices.

I think passing out the poster was a poor decision on the rapper's part (though I don't know what the more tame version he says he actually handed out looked like) but otherwise, I don't see what the big deal is. He's a rap artist who actually wanted to take time out to give something back. Let's string him up for the children!

You amuse me. The problem is that teenagers are sent mixed messages. Don't do drugs, stay in school, blah blah blah, and when they get home, well it's drugs, fame, rap, gangsta, blah blah blah. We want our young men and women of today to be responsible and act like adults, but we don't make them responsible for their actions, and we don't trust them with any worthwhile responsibility. You can't have it both ways.

No condoms for kids? Ok, 4/10 pretty good.

FAIL? Really?

See when my kids hear something at school I deem inappropriate, I use that as a teaching opportunity. I can explain that why they are hearing is wrong, and talk about why. That's how you teach your kids values and morals.

Why are the "conservatives" always so afraid of taking responsibility for teaching their kids values and morals? Why are they so against the state and the schools but so unwilling to do the job themselves?

Or are they just like "liberals" were 30 years ago, so smug and content in their day in the limelight that they can't believe it when someone in the world somewhere doesn't completely reflect their own values, and shiat their pants when anyone differs?

We need a new term for "PC". Maybe "LA": Limbaugh Approved.

Cornell West is less of a rapper than Eddie Murphy was a singer. But anything to keep him out of the movies..I talking to you Matrix trilogy!

And someone needs to listen to BDP's Criminal Minded...as gangsta as anyother album of it's time.

You can pick the losers before you even graduate...and they are later joined by another herd that wants to be in high school forever.

They're not bad people...just losers that want to party all night and sleep all day...and expect soembody to provide for them.
