I've been in bars on Vancouver's nasty downtown eastside where tweakers and junkies have wandered in trying to sell all kinds of stuff; smokes, lighters, clothes, miscellaneous crap that still has pieces of car window glass in it. Not at all uncommon to have some grey skeleton offering steaks or chops freshly-stolen from Save-on-Meats on Hastings St.

Don't buy trenchcoat chicken. Check.

Now, let's say someone were to offer me trenchcoat sausage? Would that be a sound culinary decision?

That just means that you're in rural Alberta. Enjoy your man rape.

They're exagerrating. I wasn't trying to sell a whole chicken out of my trenchcoat.

Just the neck.

I bought some Wing Zhing on Ebay. The dude had a great feedback, and I couldn't pass up on the cutlets.

Yeah but sushi can stink pretty bad after being under the coat for a day. Frozen chicken takes awhile to thaw.

Serious question here. I thought cooking any piece of food destorys all bacteria present. If this is the case, what's the big deal even if the chicken wasn't refrigerated properly? I mean, it might be a bit nasty but wouldn't the subsequent cooking eliminate the health risks?

andygump [TotalFark] 2009-03-07 10:33:50 PM

How old are you?
Have you moved out of your folks place yet?

If the answers to the above are over 20 and yes then I have two more questions -

how many times have you had food poisoning?
Why aren't you dead yet?

Down here, this one homeless fella was trying to sell the same fleshlight for about a month near Qwest Field.

It was worth the few minutes to act interested and watch him explain in great detail its features.

The answers are indeed over 20 and yes, no need for the snark. I realize it sounds like a dumb question, and when I have older meat I just throw it out because I don't want to take chances, but I really can't understand how cooking wouldn't kill the bacteria. Apparently you don't either.

Out of curiosity, what's your time limit on uncooked ground beef? 2, 3 months at room temperature?

Serious answer here. Cooking will kill all of the bacteria (well, most of it), but WON'T rid it of the toxins they secrete before they die. Those are what will get you. Seriously.

Although I'd ordinarily agree with your assessment of goths, in this instance it looks like the degenerate is Mr_Master2, if he actually thinks it's no big deal if chicken isn't refrigerated properly.

That said, odds are he's only pretending to be a dumbass - which means that gothnet shouldn't have bitten.

Don't worry too much about it. Misplaced anxiety, I say. Besides, threatening the bacteria with fire is enough to kill them. So nosh away.

Oh man thats messed up, i live at Kipling and Rexdale (well, just north) and on wednesday i was behind Wing Zhing truck getting on the 401 at belfield... the only reason i remember is because i was trying to think which company makes the soy sauce packets (Wing Wongs).

I always wondered what they do in those factorys that back up against the strip of restaurants. Guess i know now... process stolen meat.

There are also spores in some species that can survive cooking temperatures/times.
