Not one to nitpick our own system here, but she was able to use a stolen credit card to bail herself out of jail on an unrelated charge.... Doesn't ANYONE check the name on a credit card anymore?

Vio 2009-03-07 04:09:29 AM
REALLY?! How did she use a stolen credit card to bail herself out of jail?? If I was the guy with the stolen card I would also press charges on whoever was in charge of letting her out of jail that day.

DerekSD 2009-03-07 04:10:33 AM
was she lucky enough to find establishments that were willing to take a cc # verbally?*
did she have the number long enough to find a way to get a card with a number on it or that loops back to it?

*those places are f*cked for merchant accounts forever if they did.

HomeGrownCone 2009-03-07 04:15:52 AM
Apparently Fark, of all places, doesn't understand how easy it is to print and write cards once you have the numbers, or better yet the card.

I was at the airport once and found an itinerary with someone's credit card details written on the cover. It had the number, expiration, and security code. The itinerary had the person's name. He was lucky I found it. I just tore it up finely and threw the pieces into two different trash cans. Someone else could have done some real damage. Maybe I should have bought myself a wifi day pass as a convenience charge.

One of my mother's friends was a drunken toothless meth head. And like many drunken toothless meth heads in the area she got a job taking care of elderly persons in their homes. One day, sadly, an old woman she was caring for passed away.

A few days later, the drunken toothless meth head was arrested after charging a thousand or so dollars on the dead woman's credit card. Her plan was a cunning one, given she lived in a town of less than 400 people with only a single ATM/ store to use the card at.

Her airtight excuse to the cops? "But she said I could have her card!"

WzDD 2009-03-07 06:07:34 AM
I can't blame her for wanting a Dr Pepper. I could do with a cool, refreshing glass of Dr Pepper right now.

/or am I the only one who remembers that incident?

Now, the real good thing about meeting
the President of the United States
is the food.

Forrest takes a bottle of Dr. Pepper from the buffet table.

Numerous bottle of Dr. Pepper are displayed on the table. A
servant opens the bottle for him.

Omnis evil twin, I wouldn't be surprised if your mom's friend...uh...put the old lady to pasture...desperate methheads tend to be like vampires...toothless, gummy vampires that prey on the weak to get a fix....

But I wouldn't know...I don't know your mom's friend. I'm just in the mood of giving you the visual of toothless, gummy vampires.

/Sorry...have a niece who's a methhead and....let's just say I'm glad she doesn't take care of the elderly

I guess, but I was craving Dr Pepper yesterday. I want one right now. I'm going to buy a 2-liter. I sit here wondering if the store is open. Also, if that cute clerk is there.

I always thank those people, after I kick myself for leaving home with just my card in my pocket. They never ask when I have my purse and all its contents (ID) with me.

True Story:

Long time ago I worked in a bookstore. I always made a point of checking the name/signature when people used a credit card.

One day a very old man and his caretaker came in. He paid with a credit card. Name on the card was "Dr. J Salk" Yep. It was him. Shook his hand. Nice old guy.

Also met Coach John Robinson and Deepak Chopra the same way. They were assholes.

I would gather that she bought more than just 4 items and a Dr. Pepper. The above list may not be comprehensive.
