The author claims to know why Rush won't debate anyone of substance, but Rush isn't trying to debate anyone of substance. He's trying to debate Obama.

Obama - Teleprompter = Bush

I always knew the rich folk had better, more mind bending, drugs than we common folk. RobberBaron1 confirms this.

The Obama/teleprompter thing is so dumb. Did you even watch the Presidential debates? I thought he did extremely well in the two I watched, and he certainly didn't make use of a teleprompter.

And I've never heard him say anything of Bush caliber. He has a nasty habit of interjecting "Um" in his statements, but he's still well-spoken and doesn't ask "is our children learning" or other nonsense.

kasmel 2009-03-06 07:15:39 PM
The problem with this video as an example of Rush in a substantive debate is that he isn't debating anyone of substance. He's being yelled at by a bunch of angry retards that make themselves and their positions appear reactionary and poorly thought out.

I don't like Rush, and I don't agree with him on much of anything. This video makes me feel bad for agreeing with some of the people screaming at him.

If Limbaugh wants to debate Obama he should run for President. Until then, the President has better things to do then argue with a blowhard.

If you were right, then why is 0bama making RL the focus of the adminstration? If 0bamy is going to dish it out, he should be able to take it from RL without having to cry about how much he is being picked on. 0bama - got buyers remorse yet?

And
win the Republican primary.

But he doesn't really want to debate Obama. He just wants even more attention, even though all the attention in the world won't stop him from being a tremendously unhappy, miserable bastard.

tallguywithglasseson [TotalFark] 2009-03-06 10:58:34 PM
SouthernManDunWrong: why is 0bama making RL the focus of the adminstration?

The focus of the administration was economic stimulus package, which passed, and is now health care reform among other things. The Rush Limbaugh thing was thrown out in one sentence by his chief of staff to fark with the Republican leadership, and it led to a week of RNC leaders looking like idiots.

SouthernManDunWrong: having to cry about how much he is being picked on

Crying about being picked on by Rush Limbaugh??? Can you provide an example of this?

And the same goes for the liberals.

PoopStain: The White House seems to be accommodating him. (pops)

Oh, the White House doesn't give a sh*t about Limbaugh getting attention. Quite the opposite actually. Rush has a popular show, but he's got the Howard Stern thing going (technically the Morton Downey Jr thing) - a good portion of his audience gets pissed off by most of what he says, but they listen anyway. That doesn't help Republicans get elected. It's a monkey wrench in the RNC's efforts to regroup, nothing more.

NewportBarGuy [TotalFark] 2009-03-06 11:06:25 PM
I love that clip, you just can't play it enough.

Everyone has forgotten it, but he had a show on FOX in the 90's. The few episodes I saw were just absolute Fail.

He has a face and an ideology what was made for radio.

Republican politicians have to grovel to Rush asking forgiveness anytime they say anything critical of him.

Rush wields far more power over the GOP than you are giving him credit for. Why? Because the Base love him and place him on a pedestal.

Or a squid.

Or hickory-smoked horse buttholes........ from a cup.

TheConvincingSavant 2009-03-07 01:12:38 AM
Typical Rush diffusing a few frothing extremists, this is nothing new. Although it is the first time I've heard nonsensical shouting described as "owning."

I doubt Barry would act as foolishly as those people in the video in a debate with Rush, even without his teleprompter. It'd be fun to watch, but sadly, would never happen.

2012 is looking good.

I know I don't, though I lean mostly libertarian. My boss can't stand the guy. Don't know anyone who takes him seriously. It seems that liberals talk about him more than conservatives. Makes you wonder who is really tuning into his show.

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2009-03-07 03:14:52 AM
Rush was yelling at his call screen dude on wednesday. he had 2 callers slip through that asked him rough questions and el Capitan was not prepared for them.

notmtwain [TotalFark] 2009-03-07 06:31:27 AM
Rush was being polite to those loudmouths on his show. They didn't argue or discuss. They yelled. They accused-- without any facts to back up their accusations. (Calling him a murderer, for example.) They wouldn't pause to allow him to say anything. His refusal to talk over them shows his polite upbringing.

I disagree with 90% of what he says, but I respect his eloquence and his willingness to discuss actual ideas on his show. His grandiloquence is a little much at times, but for me it's mostly amusing.

I think it would be a great debate.

I know Republicans who listen to him.

PoopStain:
Based on the 2004 election results pundits were declaring the death of the Democratic party. By 2006 they were declaring the death of the Republican party.

Pendulums swing faster these days. Obama will most likely be reelected, but Pelosi and Reid could do enough damage to hurt local elections.

That is only true to an extent. Pundits are also getting dumber. Or TV is.

Not as many as you probably think, I suspect. Especially given his popularity numbers.

What happened during that third presidential debate with John McCain - you know, the one where no telepromters were used?

Or were you passed out drunk in a pool of NeoCon tears and missed the drubbing?

Jesus, thoroughly debunked talking points die hard in the face of idiocy, don't they?

Rush likes the attention because for him attention = money.
The Dems like giving the attention because its causing chaos in the Republican party.
Its as simple as that.

This is a painfully obvious troll, but it's worth pointing out that the implication of what he is saying is that not even a TelePropmTer could do anything to help Bush's weapons-grade stupid.

I listen to any conservative AM talk radio when I need to be entertained while driving around, and I get the distinct impression that they all get in on a conference call every morning to exchange every last anti-liberal talking point they can come up with (no matter how trivial).

Loucifer 2009-03-07 08:01:07 AM
The only person that could stop this nightmare for the G.O.P is Rush himself. All he would have to do is reign in his monstrous ego and keep a low profile for awhile. What are the odds of that happening? Anyone?

Random Reality Check: What happened during that third presidential debate with John McCain - you know, the one where no telepromters were used?

He was debating John McCain... that's what happened. My 7-year-old daughter could out-debate John McCain. The moment he was nominated for the Republican party... I knew we were done. I never believed McCain had what it took to win this kind of election... and I was dead right. The Republican party needed (needs) a candidate with teeth... not dentures.

"My friends..." give me a break.

Frank N Stein: CAN WE STOP TALKING ABOUT LIMBAUGH PLZ?

Why not talk to Gibbs and Emanuel about this? The Obama team seems to be more concerned with what Limbaugh has to say than the economy or foreign affairs. However, I have to give Obama credit for creating or saving 25 jobs in Columbus, Ohio yesterday. Way to go, man! Too bad the jet fuel required to fly to and from Ohio on Air Force One for the 12 minute press conference cost more than the stimulus payment for those 25 jobs.

/Must have pushed the 'overcharge' button

Because the more they can make Rush Limbaugh the voice of the conservative movement and de facto leader of the Republican party, the easier future elections will be for the Democrats.
