I'd hate to be in his shoes when there's nothing more to Nationalize and the people are still starving, waiting in government lines for a few grains of rice.

Chavez can piss off our government, but when he starts messing with the real power in this country he'd better watch out.

Here's my moral dilemma.

10 people are starving.

You have 10 Apples.

Do you make 1 glass of Apple juice out of the 10 Apples and sell it at an inflated price or give each person 1 Apple?

Admittedly I do not know how many foreign business interests have set up shop in Venezuela. However, if I happened to have any stake in these interests, I would see a move like this as a direct threat and immediately start moving all business interests out of the country to a more hospitable location. Liquidating assets and moving, although expensive, is still a better alternative to losing everything. Unfortunately that means less jobs to go around for the average citizen.

Way to go Chavez, this move should definitely guarantee that many jobs will be lost for the average citizen of Venezuela.

That plant manager was probably Venezuelan with a family. Not a smart move. Although I can sympathize with the sentiment

Sort of like Americans lining at soup kitchens after their unemployment runs out and they get kicked off food stamps for not get a job within 3 months.

That would be pretty easy to do. I think rice dust is very explosive.

Rice is a completely different story. Rice is the one thing that gives you 3x what you put into it. 1 cup of rice + 1 cup of water = food for 3 people. It is probably nature's perfect food.

Neither...You sell them the apple each.

Obviously you know nothing of business. You do not GIVE away your product.

Back in the day, there'd be a few phone calls from the CEO's office to the White House and within a few hours Gen. Smedley Butler and a few divisions of marines would be steaming towards Caracas Harbor with a destoryer escort.

Thank god we've evolved past the day of invading countries every time their leaders do something we don't like

You convert those apples to what ever product gives you the best profit and sell it for what ever you can. No profit no product. You can give 10 starving people those apples today but there will be no apples tomorrow.

Obama needs to do this. He needs to order gas stations to lower the price of gas, home builders to lower the price of houses and mortgage companies to lower the interest rates. If they dont, have the military take them over.

Then we will have affordable housing and gas. (new window)

Socialism is bad because it allows for only a very small, elite group to control most of the wealth within a country.

That would never happen with capitalism.

Seize Citgo.

While part of me wants to say THIS to you, a bigger part of me says that this is kind of what's getting us in the mess we're in today. Two wrongs don't make a right. It was bad when Bush did it, so Obama does it even more...

We need to be above all this nonsense.

People need to wake up and see that this is what is happening to our country, to some extent. First AIG, then the auto makers, now the banks... what's next?

Hugo Chavez = Obama?
Venezuela = United States?

Not to the same degree, but there are similarities...

When do our food shortages start?

They invested in that plant decades ago more likely. They were just holding on as long as they could. In any case Venezuela is required to compensate Cargil for that plant, they'll never pay it, they don't even pay their contractors.
