I'm actually interested in seeing if this is any good.

Many fans?

Psh, I've been waiting to hear this album and just received the tickets the wifey and I ordered for their concert here in town.

Would submitter rather listen to some Jonas Brothers?

Oh Queensrÿche.

I learned what lucid meant from them.

insert witty comment using phrase 'silent lucidity' here

I had to see them at a Day On The Green In Oakland, CA fifteen years ago, and the contrast between their peurile bombastic crap and the rest of the show (Metallica, Soundgarden, and Faith No More) was astonishing. They were already pathetic has-beens back then. Why won't they just die (as a band, I mean)?

I'll buy it as I love Queensryche. I've got a suggestion for all of you that are biatching about them - don't listen so you have nothing to biatch about. You sound like teenage girls on their periods after their boyfriends have broken up with them.

On the other hand, so does Geoff Tate.

I've heard a few tracks from the new album. It's OK, definitely not their best, not even as good as MC2.

Yeah, as you can guess I'll still pick it up.

Sounds good, I'll be sure to get the album.

Sounds like many fans need to STFU.

I didn't know that Queensryche was another band that Fark hates. It doesn't make sense: they're not big-time (anymore), they appeal to nerds, and they aren't "image first, music last" like other objects of disdain around here.

I'll check this one out. I doubt that their tour will come anywhere near here, but I'd like to see them live, too.

Ugh. I like Queensryche, but this is gonna be terrible.

Mindcrime was great, Empire was good, Mindcrime 2 was mediocre.

I'll give this new work a test when it arrives but I have no high hopes for quality.

people love to rave about these guys, but damn. I've seen them a few times over the years (always opening for someone else) and it seems like each time they get worse.

I don't get the appeal of this band.

the appeal of the band is more than likely the fact that "Operation Mindcrime" is arguably one of, if not the best, concept albums of all time. oh, and it rocked, too.

And seeing them perform the entire Mindcrime set live is arguably one of the best concert experiences of all time.

They'll be in Portland in April. I'll be there.

Only band that needs to write about war is Bolt Thrower.

Already ordered my copy and looking forward to it's arrival.

I will check the album out from the library and preview it before laying out cash for it. Ever since the disappointments of "Hear in the Now Frontier" and "Q2K," I have not bothered with their music. Perhaps going back to the concept album, ala "Operation Mindcrime," will help them.

"Promised Land" is still one of my favorite albums of all time, but beyond that, eh.

Sorry, but no. I hate to be the one to say it, but Operation Mindcrime always struck me as being so damn...FORCED. It's like the songs werent written, they were manufactured specifically to fit what was needed at that point in the album. Mindcrime isnt a zit on The Walls ass.

/My favorite Queensriech song is "Deliverance"
//so there.

DeGarmo was responsible for all but one song on "Hear" and sang one of the most Godawful songs on it.

Nice try.

chemrebel 2009-03-05 04:33:55 PM
I thoroughly enjoyed the last time I saw them in concert (Sep 2007). Have to agree tho that the magic left when DeGarmo decided to check out. Tate hasn't been the same since.

All this recession, war, media whoring and Big Brother stuff in our society today is all Queensryche's fault. Why don't you make a concept album about everything being awesome and me being rich and having a big dong?

ScotterOtter 2009-03-05 07:14:42 PM
Take one or two songs from each of their last 5 albums and you might have something actually worth paying for

Well, you're in the minority. Queensryche is a band with nothing left to prove, so the haters can suck it.

dbirchall [TotalFark] 2009-03-06 04:31:38 AM
I think it's a very timely topic, and I hope the new album does well for them, maybe even gets some press and broadens their audience. I've known plenty of soldiers over the years who liked their stuff.

It's not really a topic that appeals to me personally, but I'll give it a listen.

Really? I guess Queensryche is going in the HOF right along with Mettalica eh?
I don't hate em, I just dont think 'Mindcrime" is all that and a bag of chips. Like a previous poster said take 1 or 2 songs off of all their albums and you'd have a kick ass collection. Sorry if that doesnt sit well with you.
