Well, it's not like Thursday's a work day.

Plus, he's only planning to throw 203 more of these Wednesday parties.

Heh. "Obama's Katrina?" They're really going there. Wow.

You see, neo-cons, you're making it too easy. You're screaming yourselves breathless now, and so when/if Obama really does something worth more than faux outrage, nobody's going to pay attention to you- which is just as well.

Hmmm. pot kettle, black. Somebody should perhaps point that out, but then that kid would show up and call me racist.

I'm sorry, I was too busy reading how George Bush had the powers to bomb my house if he wanted to if he deemed me a "terrorist." What was that you were saying?

nemoxnine [TotalFark] 2009-03-04 11:55:17 PM
So on the one hand we have

-corporate jets
-five star hotels
-arena-level bands
-spa days
-occasion: congratulations to top earners

And on the other we have

-some booze
-an a capella group
-occasion: black history month

How can anyone seriously compare these? And, more importantly, how can they get published in the (historically) reputable WSJ?

Lando Lincoln: I'm sorry, I was too busy reading how George Bush had the powers to bomb my house if he wanted to if he deemed me a "terrorist." What was that you were saying?

Ah, the old "Bush was worse" gambit, eh? Lessee here:

1. Leaving detainees at Gitmo -- check.
2. Encouraging his party to ramp up runaway government spending when the economy's in crisis -- check.
3. Using executive privilege to hide e-mails, papers, meeting notes, etc. -- check.
4. Sending thousands more troops to the Middle East -- check.
5. Inadvertently sending the message that he's out of touch -- check.
6. Allowing intelligence agencies to use warrantless wiretapping and helping the telecoms to avoid prosecution for helping -- check.

Which president were we talking about again?

Howie Spankowitz [TotalFark] 2009-03-05 12:23:03 AM
As a true conservative, I demand that President Obama sit on a pole in a tattered diaper when he is not in official state meetings.

You Can't Fix Stupid: Leaving detainees at Gitmo

Still under review while they figure out the best way to shut it down. When you're handed a ticking bomb in the middle of a crowded shopping mall, it's a bad idea to do the kneejerk thing and just toss it.

Encouraging his party to ramp up runaway government spending when the economy's in crisis

To fix the economy. Kinda like what WWII did for us. Huge increase in government spending pulled us right the hell out of a depression.

Using executive privilege to hide e-mails, papers, meeting notes, etc.

Don't all presidents do this. I thought the problem with the Bush administration was the scale to which they did it.

Sending thousands more troops to the Middle East

To finish the job that Dubbya couldn't. Not too many people had a problem with Bush going into Afghanistan. They had a problem with going into another country that had nothing to do with our terrorism problem.

Inadvertently sending the message that he's out of touch

Sorry, I can't address your fantasies because they're just as valid as anyone else fantasies.

Allowing intelligence agencies to use warrantless wiretapping and helping the telecoms to avoid prosecution for helping

As I understand it, the wiretapping thing is still under review. As for telecom immunity, this is one point that I'll agree with you on.

One point. Doesn't seem to bolster your case that Obama is as bad as Bush. You might take heed of your login.

1) He's closing down Gitmo within a year. I'm sorry if this is not moving fast enough for you.
2) Not spending money during this crisis is the wrong thing to do.
3) Again, I'm sorry if Obama is not moving fast enough for you in certain areas. I am confident that we will eventually learn more than we will ever want to know about the misdeeds of the Bush administration.
4) The majority of Americans believe that he should be sending more troops to Afghanistan. He campaigned on this promise.
5) Your login name is very apt.
6) Again with the FISA bullshiat. Obama did not authorize the warrantless wiretapping - Bush did. And yes, if the telecoms will provide information about Bush's doings in exchange for immunity from prosecution, then I am all for that.

Shame on all of you, wasting your time and making jokes about the world on the Internet, while the world goes to hell and the economy's in the crapper!

You all seem dangerously out of touch...almost as bad as President Bush during Katrina.

As an sidenote, I encourage you to read the "How Stimulating" section. Quote aside, it has the highest asinineness-to-length ratio of any blurb I've seen this year.

Oh wait, the proper term is "stupidity-to-length." Well, then I guess you shouldn't take too much stock in my recommendations.

About 20,000 protest in Germany

This is the Middle East. Note that Cyprus is in the European Union, so it could be referred to as Europe. Turkey will probably join in 10-20 years as well.

So which of these counties is Obama sending thousands of new troops to again?

TwistedFark 2009-03-05 06:01:13 AM
Wow, the writers at the WSJ have gone into full right-wing douchebag mode.

These "cocktail parties" were for

1) Presenting a national award.

and

2) Celebrating Black History month.

#1 is certainly within the domain of the presidency considering the president presents the award and you'd have to be a real nubianrdly bastard not give him #2.

They stopped being reputable years ago when they did a front page story on my high school calling it "the new white flight" where they interviewed all the brain damaged white kids (as opposed to those who actually could think) who said "OMG the asians make school too competitive!!1!".

So verbal_jizm notes that "not too many people" were against invading Afghanistan, and you decide to play the neocon avenger and accuse him of revisionism, citing three cases of protests that drew 20,000 people each, a figure that absolutely pales in comparison to the overwhelming international support given to the US after 9/11.

You suck at making points.

Cmon, Democrats are wimps. This is news to you?

On the other hand, the absolutely moronic tripe that you and your ilk have come up with as "failings" is simply mind bending. And the gutless cowardice of the Fark right wing in taking ownership of the last 8 years, their unyielding support of Bush until the day he was out of office, and responsibily for the current crisis is beyond words.

No, there are some words. Yellow, weak, pathetic, sniveling, spineless excuse for humanity.

Give us something honest and rational to discuss or just get out of our way.
