"However, I'd like to say to Lars (Ulrich) and James (Hetfield), I am so very proud of all you have accomplished. Thank you for the invitation and thinking of me."

Wow, Dave, that was actually quite gracious of you. Who would've guessed you know how to be gracious?

He didn't "turn down" the invitation as subby and the author of the article would have you believe. He has prior commitments in place already due to the tour schedule of Megadeth. But nice try to imply some negativity where there is none.

/classy move by both parties involved. (Metallica and Mustaine)

We all would have.. but then Kirk's butthurt would set in.

I'd be satisfied with a co-headlining tour. Wouldn't matter to me who went first or not. The Met-Megs fued has been over between the two for years.. why is it so hard for a lot of fans to get over? If not for Dave getting kicked out, we wouldn't have two great bands.

Me too. To see them jam on tunes like "The Four Horseman" or "Whiplash" would've been really cool.

He would finish playing "The Four Horseman" two minutes before Metallica.

If lars gets canned, they get a real drummer and Dave rejoins the group they may have a good band. As a matter of fact, done well -they could be great.

Well, in your hypothetical situation, I would graciously apologize for not being able to make it due to prior commitments. But in the real world, now seeing what a douche you are, I'd say, "Piss off, dickhead."

What a STUPID comment.

Go to the R&RHoF website and watch the scrolling names towards the bottom of the screen. Guess what? BLACK PEOPLE'S NAMES ARE LISTED! Not just black rock and roll artists; people/groups like Parliament Funkadelic, Percy Sledge, Etta James, and Miles Davis, among others.

Run-D.M.C. more than deserve to be in the HoF - their album "King of Rock" was GROUNDBREAKING. Plus, Aerosmith owes the resurgence of their career to Run-D.M.C.; if they hadn't covered "Walk This Way," you never would have had the pleasure of watching Liv Tyler and Alicia Silverstone prance around in Aerosmith's videos.

Get a clue.

MsterScary [TotalFark] 2009-03-04 06:43:40 PM
Dave is actually a very decent guy. I met him on their last two tours. He was a douchebag the first time around, then actually apologized at last year's Gigantour. And for the record, he remembered me and apologized without me mentioning the previous meeting.

As for Metallica/Megadeth, the "feud" is over. Dave basically put it away on "The System Has Failed" in the song "Something That I'm Not". He doesn't harbor any real ill will against Metallica. He's older and realizes that he's better off without them.

Plus honestly his current lineup of Megadeth would totally destroy the current Metallica if put head to head (except for Trujillo- he's a much better bassist than Lomenzo.

No reason they couldn't do a Skynyrd style 3 guitar attack. As a along time Metallica fan I'm only recently getting over my hate of Dave Mustaine, but I'd like to see it happen.

STRYPERSWINE 2009-03-05 12:14:31 AM
The Judas Priest tour actually ends with plenty of time for him to make the show. But it does provide a convenient excuse because most people won't bother to check the dates.

As for Kirk....I don't think he has much of a say about anything.

King Something [TotalFark] 2009-03-05 05:03:10 AM
Ron won't make it either. He's working the late shift at the Circle K and couldn't get anyone to cover for him.

There is so much dialogue left for Metallica, they'll be greenlit for a long time. No matter which side of the debate you're on, there's always more to be said, no matter how many times someone says: "Metallica rules forever, end of story!" or "Metallica is dead, end of story!" - the story isn't over. People still care about why Mustaine saw fit to not attend the ceremony, to speculate on whether it's old resentments, or is it actually just the prior engagements, or is it a serendipitous dig at a still festering wound, that happened to be timed well (for either Mustaine: I'll show them! or Metallica: We know he's on tour, let's taunt him with a hollow invite!)?

Is Mustaine really proud of Metallica? Is this gracious gesture sincere, and is there a possibility for them to reconcile to a degree long thought too far gone? Might they collaborate?

These things are interesting. Of the hundreds of bands that are touted to rock harder, play tighter, kick more ass than ever Metallica or Megadeth ever did, none of them provoke as much interest. I won't even bring up any band in the litany of bands that is a thousand times better than these guys ever hoped to be, because if Metallica fanboys are rabid, then the fanboys of these other bands are stark raving lunatics, and the mere mention of one of these bands is enough to launch a Master's thesis diatribe against the popularity of these bands, in the light of virtue that is the pure metal religion of theirs.

Never could claim to be a fan of Mustaine, I never hated him, there were a few Megadeth songs I liked, his guitar playing is excellent, but his voice and style were a little over the top for me. Hetfield was always more grounded and accessible. Still, there might be some magic for both Metallica and Megadeth in some collaborative work. Maybe it would awaken something in both bands, and they'd both be better for it. Or maybe there would be a fistfight, and they'd merge into an acid jazz band, who knows?

You could do with a clue yourself. Its the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame, not the RAP hall of fame, and even then, how many FANTASTIC ALBUMS have RUN DMC put out? I can think of...one.

Not HOF material.

Nirvana should be in there.
hell Billy Idol should be in there before RUN DMC

/and yes this is a repeat.
