Weren't those "BIG NAMES" from T&G? How are they under-rated?

/Or do you mean under-rated by the world at large, Subby?

I love Man or Astro-Man?. I also recommend Gein and the Graverobbers.

okay: do you remember the name of a M?OAM! track that had a sci-fi sample in it of a woman's voice shouting "Fire an electron beam!" ???

jerkobson 2009-03-04 01:00:29 PM
nice to see Seam represented. I love them.

I used to have like ten M?OAM! CDs and remember that sample but have smoked way too much pot in the decade since to remember. That's going to bug me for the next couple days! Damn these days of .mp3s, where did I put those CDs?

"I hear the radio is finally gonna
play new music, you know, the
british invasion." But what about
The Minutemen, Flesh Eaters, DOA,
Big Boys. And the Black Flag?"

Loves me some Big Boys. Cool list with lots of new tunes for my brain to gobble up.

subby, you made my day.

There is no reason, ever, not even one, to call The Supersystem underrated. Not even one.

That said: this list needs more GvsB. And a WHOLE lot more Brick Layer Cake.

Tar's Toast. I love that album. I also love Shellac to a point which is near unnatural.

At Action Park is a disc that takes me directly to a specific time and place in my life when it was really a tremendous thing being me.

/and I guess Slint isn't underrated
//and Quarterstick releases don't count

slint aren't underrated. Everyone lists them as an influence and raves about them as being ridiculously brilliant and ahead of their time etc. They aren't overrated either. They are rated highly, and I think that is wholly justified

Nope I agree completely, wasn't saying they should be on the list, but its hard not to mention them on a touch & go list so kudos to the writers for sticking to underrated. As a kid in high school in Louisville who used to sneak out to go see Slint play the VFW, I am still amazed they ever caught on, considering how ignored they generally were at the time. Now its impossible to have any kind of "indie bestest list" without mentioning them or you lose all cred, but if it gets more people to listen to em, all the better.

Big Black's Atomizer? Die Kreuzen? No Trend's Tritonian Nash-Vegas Polyester Complex?

This list lacks. But it's hard to pick out the best stuff on a label that has been putting consistently good material for 25+ years.

/fun fun fun
//go start your own band

Why, was everyone else big on Rodan? Or Droon? (new window) ;)

/Was in an even shorter-lived band with Hank Baker

I saw Slint playing in someone's basement in 1988 so I'm getting a real kick out of some of these replies...

I may know you. I went to several practices at Pajo's parents' house.
