ah yes. "The Pass".
I listened to that song once, years and years ago, when i first listened to the album in a cd store.
i completely forgot about the song until i came across it on youtube the other week. That finding and re-listening made me realize how completely wicked awesome the song is.
same with the video.
both sound and look like they could've been made in the mid to late 90's...
not the late 80's... [ "presto"]

its also, at least according to Geddy when they play it on Rush in Rio, one of the Band's favorite songs.

I'm sitting here poking around my Rush folder and it's kind of amazing how many lyrics fit. "Anthem" and "Something for Nothing" are fortune cookie goldmines.

"Know your place in life is where you want to be"
"Keep on looking forward no use in looking around"
"Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for"

"You don't get something for nothing"
"You can't have freedom for free"
"What you own is your own kingdom"
"What you do is your own glory"
"What you love is your own power"
"What you live is your own story"

Jimi5A1: If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice

My personal favorite.

Yeah, Rush lyrics are a little juvenile. They're certainly not as profound as I thought they were when I was 17. But consider the context - in their heyday, the lyrics were written by a guy in his mid-20s himself (not exactly a wise old man just yet), and like most rock and roll music, it was geared towards kids. In a day and age of "Shout at the devil!" and "I wanna rock and roll all night!", the lyrics to "Limelight" or "The Spirit of Radio" were pretty sweet.

I'm going with this gem:

"the world is, the world is,
love and life are deep"

I have no idea what that means, and it has the sound of being written, then translated into a second language, translated once again into a third, and then back into the original.
