Ironic. It's my biggest pain to see him perform.

I'm a fan of "rap", however, I've never understood why this wentz is popular.

He should pee on a 14 year old and video tape it. Worked for R. Kelly. He even got to see himself perform in court. That must have been awesome.

Kanye West doesn't care about white people.

His first album was actually pretty good, but he's been coasting by on it's success ever since.

Have you? I'm not a fan of his personality, but I've been to one of his shows (to see a different act and stayed for his) and he was really entertaining. Again, I agree that he says a lot of dumb shiat and acts like an ass.

Why are people trying so hard to make this happen?

I didn't see him live, but I tried to give him a a chance on VH1's Storytellers the other day.
Not my cup of tea.

He is on the list of people I wish would just shut up.

Yeah, I can dig that. I'm guessing my experience was probably skewed because there were about 30,000 people around me all hyped. Crowd energy helps a lot. His light show was really cool too and the city surrounding us as well. Probably an overall experience. I might feel differently in an enclosed setting with fewer people.

That.

College dropout was a great album. Everything since then? Not so much.

I agree. A friend took me to see an act I wasn't thrilled to be going to (Neil Diamond). Although the crowd skewed a bit older (by about 40 years) the energy kinda made it cooler than it probably was.

Kanye is just ok. Really, his producers are the great ones. He has potential, but he wastes it all talking about how great he is. As a rapper, his skills are elementary. He lacks the art of storytelling.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2009-03-03 10:45:07 AM

cheshirecatsmileyface: He lacks The Art of Storytelling

Slick Rick (my favorite rapper ever) would give him lessons for days -was that what you were referencing?

Kayne started out making fun of those big-ego rappers, and he ended up becoming one.
Echoing what others have said, he is coasting on his first albums success, he also keeps himself in the limelight be making ridiculous statements like this.

Good catch.

Also, I know Eminem's not real well-liked on Fark (or any rapper for that matter), but at least when he raps, he tells a story. Sure, he whines and biatches like any other mainstream star, but every line in his songs adds to the whole. He doesn't toss in random phrases that don't mean anything but just happen to rhyme. It's calculated.

Rap should be as much about language as it is the rhythm and beats. Kanye tends to forgo the substance in favor of style too often, and that's too bad, cause he has potential. He's just too damn full of himself.

bombastic showmanship moves units. the article also mentions his ongoing feud with 50 cent (which didn't exist until both had a new album to promote). kanye is muhammad ali with a voice modulator. enjoy it or don't, but don't waste your time biatching about him.

you understand that i'm not saying kanye west is a prolific pugilist right? i'm saying that he's an over-the-top self-promoter. seems like a reasonable comparison to me.

You be lambasted by ridiculous, racist, short-sighted, ignorant dummies for making a pro rap post, but I will stand here to defend you.

He does tell stories, of course he also throws out nonsense or whacky if not harmless-club songs, and that's fine by me.

I too dislike disjointed rap without any reason to it (if it's not a club song).

Kayne West needs to drown in a pool filled with STFU.

Marginally talented Wentz in a field I could not give two shiats about. Greatest thing he EVER did and will EVER do is the comment he made about Bush.

He's as big a suckhole as Paris Hilton, a self-important piece of shiat that would do the world a service if he went to permanently visit his mother.

There are lots of memes that don't leave Fark or even certain tabs of Fark.

Ponzholio: Well, in all fairness, his mom isn't able to see him perform live either...

I think after his mom died he kind of lost his mind. That or, since she was his manager, she wasn't there to say "Hey, maybe you shouldn't do/say that."

He definitely seems to need that type of person around him, and his mother may have been the only one that he would listen to when they said it.
