Garafalo used to (still does?) have as how on Air America. My god was it aweful. I tuned in just so I could get an alternative to the right wing shows that normally fill out talk radio. Rather than talk about issues, or explain why we should think the way she does, or at least make some jokes (she is a comedian by trade after all) the show was just clips of stuff Republicans would say and then her going "Oh my god. Can you believe how stupid they are. They're idiots".

Oh I listen in from time to time. Of course, most of Rush's humor is unintential these days. He really has started taking Obama's election as a personal insult. Mostly I like listening to Rush slowly fall apart on the air. Just saying the words 'President Obama' is tearing him apart - and God help me, but I do love it so....

Rush is a true example of what the republicans have become. He is a drug addict that calls for the execution of drug addicts. Like the republicans that call for our freedoms to be taken away "for the children", except when they are trying to shove their wangs in the little boys.

I don't know how anyone can listen to Rush or Olbermann for more than five minutes without suffering serious neurological damage.

Olbermann and Limbaugh are basically the same thing--both a technically proficient announcers, both know how to hit strongly at the themes that excite their audiences, and neither does a thing that would challenge any of their listeners/viewers or at least deepen their audiences' understandings of the issues.

You left out the part of her appearance on Countdown where she and Olbermann made open minded and intelligent comments about how women or "people of color"(her term) who are Republicans must suffer from Stockholm Syndrome or that any woman who'd date Rush Limbaugh reminded her of the woman who crave the serial killers locked up in prison or-better yet-Eva Braum. Yup, the Hitler comparison comes into play. Seems to me that it wouldn't be too difficult to infer that Olbermann and Garafalo were saying that women and those "people of color" should all think the same way and that there was something wrong with them if they didn't.

It's one thing to be passionate about your views and beliefs, it's another to be so close minded and bitterly twisted up in complete hatred of any opposing point of view. Garafalo (and Olbermann) seem to be closer to the latter there. They're talanted and intelligent people, but they (and others) strike me as compleatly uninterested in any sort of exchange of ideas that they don't agree with.

The only thing I want the Republicans to "take" right now is a jump off a very tall building. They had control of both houses for almost a decade, 6 years of that with a Republican president and the conclusive proof is that they are shiat stains upon humanity.

If the late 90's "rocked" it was only because of the good policy that Clinton was able to get passed by the Democratic Congress before the terrible abortion that was the "Republican Revolution".
