We don't want him either. Though it is too bad it's not McConnell who's getting ditched.

Bunning said in a statement that the sources' accounts are inaccurate.

"I intend to fulfill my obligation to the people of Kentucky. If you are going to write something like this, you better make your sources known, because they are lying," Bunning said.

Good to know you value party solidarity over doing what's best for the country.

Screw party unity. Screw the Republicans in general for doing zip to rein in government when they had the power to. What would have been best for the country is filibustering that porcine pile of garbage that was was shot thru the Congress like it was on a rocket sled. Instead, Snow, Specter, and Collins sold us all out by siding with the highbinders who concocted a bill of goods named "stimulus". I have no doubt that they'll do the same with upcoming flushings of tax money down the toilet.

I will bet money that Arlen Specter will be replaced with the current Democrat governor of PA, Ed Rendell (Whose term also expires in 2010.

You mean Drew Curtis? The same Drew Curtis that donated $500 to Obama and then a month later donated $1000 to Ron Paul?

I think I'll pass.

Just a reminder, then, that this is the time to go find candidates to oppose people you don't like. You can't beat someone if you don't have a good enough alternative.

As a Pennsylvanian who proudly voted for Obama, and has never voted for a Republican for so much as dog catcher, all I have to say to this is:
pic.bgstuff.net

The only way I'd even consider casting my vote for Rendell is if Rick Santorum somehow became the Republican nominee. Even then, I'd most likely vote third party or not at all. Rendell might as well change his title to "Governor of the City of Philadelphia", as they're the only ones his policies really benefit.

/Didn't vote for Rendell either time.
//Too young.

Even if this isn't true, a LOT of Republicans at least treat it as plausible because all protestations aside, it IS.

The chasm between the far-right "Limbaugh Republicans" and the rest of the party just got pried that bit wider open. And sooner or later, these two sides WILL be at each others' throats.

Yup.

Those rednecks and fundamentalists are the ones who run the party committees -- because they show up in great numbers to the caucuses, then elect themselves as party officers through the convention process.

Big business and the uber-riche provide the funding, but they are in such small numbers that they can't possibly take power of those committees.

The rednecks & fundies bring no money to the party, but they control the purse strings because they make all the spending/candidate support policies. It's been a long time coming for the chasm to start widening... It'll probably turn downright silly in the next two years.

And I'll lol.

Man, I don't know about you guys, but I'm having a blast watching the GOP implode. My friends think I'm crazy, but my dream ticked against Obama in 2012 would be Palin/Huckabee. If you think it got heated at the Palin rallies this time around, you'll really shiat your pants if you get to see the crazies who come out for those.

It's a nice pitch, but he doesn't have the balls to strike out against the Republican leadership. Sigh, young Republicans should balk against this clear manipulation of the electoral process.

Which of Rendell's policy's are you so upset about? Personally, I'm pretty indifferent to the guy. The Commonwealth seems to be doing alright though, considering the state of the economy.

Well, yes, by comparison.

Considering the rest of the country is now turning into the economic shiathole PA has been for a couple of decades, PA looks good by comparison.

But that isn't Rendell's fault. My father blames on Governor Casey, but I'm too young to remember him.
