"A male motorist called the police department's non-emergency number to report that he had seen the woman breastfeeding and talking on a cell phone while driving, Burke said."

So, she's got the kid out of their safety seat to do this. She's got the kid in one hand and the cellphone in the other.

She ought to have the kid taken away from her.

Okay... this woman has no business:

A) Having a child
B) Owning a car
C) Both

I'm surprised she has the sense to let go of a doorknob.

"She literally has the little girl on the steering wheel and I said, 'I can't believe you have that kid in your lap and she said, 'You want to pop your titty out and breastfeed this kid?'"

OK, she's an idiot, but that's pretty funny.

FTFA: When asked why the tickets and summons couldn't be mailed, Burke said, "It's legal documents. We have to personally serve them to the defendant."

cryinoutloud [TotalFark] 2009-02-27 10:56:08 PM
How can you do that--feed a baby, talk on the phone, and drive a car?

I remember once when my kid wanted to be fed and he started screaming. I had to pull over, and I mean right then, because he was just going to get louder and louder until I took care of it. But I still can't imagine whipping out my boob while I'm driving. You can't even hold a baby in your lap safely while you're driving.

Canadian Canuck [TotalFark] 2009-02-27 11:23:20 PM
God damn she should lose her license. Okay breast-feeding while driving is pretty bad and should have a harsh fine and a possible suspension but when you are doing that and talking on your cellphone? You need to lose your license for a long time.,

I'm a strong advocate of breastfeeding, but this woman is a farking idiot. Not only does she have her baby out of the child safety seat with the child's head against the steering wheel, but she was talking on her cell phone too. Even a low speed crash could cause the air bag to deploy, which could easily kill her baby. She's not only endangering the life of her baby, but the other children in the car with her, not to mention other drivers & pedestrians.

Fizics 2009-02-28 04:53:43 AM
What's amusing is the amount of people that seem to get so upset about a natural bodily function. Why is it that whenever a woman does something like this, she is raked over the coals in the media, meanwhile, men get away with domestic violence involving cars on an almost daily basis. It's sexism and ageism, pure and simple.

Bathia_Mapes: I'm a strong advocate of breastfeeding ...

OK, you're the second poster (I think) who's mentioned being an "advocate" or supporter of breastfeeding. Is the natural way of feeding an infant really such a bizarre concept that we need people to advocate for it? Isn't it sort of like being an advocate of breathing, or walking upright?

I'm not putting you down, and I appreciate what you're saying -- it's just that the whole thing still seems as odd to me today as it did 25 years ago. Are people still really that freaked out by the bare boobie?

I guess they are.

Oh, yeah, and ... kid needs a new mommy.

Mr. Right 2009-02-28 06:32:26 AM
Aren't babies supposed to be in a child safety seat in the back seat of the car? Wouldn't it be technically illegal to breastfeed even while riding in the front passenger seat?

Yeah, people are that stupid. I was working on a library reference desk once, and a guy asked for a phone number (while there was an ice storm going on in town). He asked me to slow down, because he was driving on I-75--while on the phone and writing business numbers. YOUR GODDAMN CAR AIN'T YOUR OFFICE. OR YOUR NURSERY, EITHER.

eternalgreenknight 2009-02-28 08:00:44 AM
What about the baby? Doesn't anyone ever think of the baby?
Shouldn't he be charged with drinking and driving or something?

/just sayin'!

Proud2B_American 2009-02-28 08:01:17 AM
I don't give a rat's ass if you want to breast feed on the table at the last supper, but while driving? This is NOT your right lady, NOT while driving. Stupid coont! They ought to take your kid away until you learn responsibility...which may never happen.Stupid Biatch!

Was this her?
