Copper Blue. Although the early stuff has a lot of raw energy, he's gotten better with time.

Check and mate.

Sumatra: Copper Blue.

This.

Copper Blue still rocks my world. No one can make one guitar sound so big and powerful like Bob. Go see him live solo, when he gets bored with acoustic and pulls out his Fender. Amazing.

had Husker Du at my club in 1984. Paid 'em $500.

Best bargain show EVER.

They completely kicked everyone's ass, it was a legendary show.

I played in a crap-rock band that opened for them once.

I considered the fact that we weren't booed off the stage as a wild success. And the fact that nothing was thrown was just the icing on the delicious rawkkkkk (with five ks) cake that was served to me that evening. Dear diary: THERE WAS EVEN POLITE APPLAUSE!

Mine finally died about a little while ago. It was about 20 years old and for it's last few years only came out for special occasions.. but towards the very end you couldn't put it on without tearing it, so I manned up and burnt it in my back yard.

/and got drunk

They were worth every penny.

The year before I had booked another MPLS band called The Suburbs.

After Husker Du, the same agent offered me yet another MPLS band, for $500 again, and sent me a copy of their latest record. I thought it mostly sucked and said no thanks, that's enough Minnesota.

That band of course, was The Replacements, and a year later I heard Let It Be and have been my favorite band ever since.

Regrets, I've had a few.

Nothing really to say, just wanted to post in the Bob Mould thread. Copper Blue and New Day Rising are on my top 10 album list. Beaster is the single greatest EP I've ever heard.

I remember seeing Bob with a band for (I think) "The Last Dog and Pony Show" at the Fillmore. He announced he wasn't going to tour with a band again. I was pretty disappointed, but a year or two later, he was listed as playing a tour solo. I thought it would be a return to "Workbook" like stuff - great songwriter stuff, so got some of my more acoustic-oriented friends and we went.

He had simply replaced the band with pre-recorded tracks. It was the loudest show I've ever been to (Palace of Fine Arts). My acoustic friends have not trusted me since. Also, probably not heard much above 4Khz.

Beaster is unbelievable. Tilted has got to be the most rip-your-face-off guitar sound...um, EVERYTHING by Mould is rip-your-face-off guitar.

Jeeeeeeeeeeesssssssuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssss.

/look up "judas cradle"
//ouch

That's why the Talking Heads died, that and he and Brian Eno wanting to take credit for everything the band did.
