Oh, I'm terribly sorry and apologize for the mix-up.

Hair-plug Metal band Def Leppard to tour this summer with Cheap Trick and Poison.

Gotta have talent to be a hair-metal band....
You are not hair metal.

Uh, you were a HAIR BAND you a-hole. Pour Some Sugar On Me was HAIR BAND ROCK. What a douche. Hell, Steel Dragon was better than them and they are from a FREAKIN MOVIE.

I put them in the same category as VH, AC/DC, etc. Hard rock.

Lando Lincoln [TotalFark] 2009-02-26 03:43:48 PM
Eh...I guess I would not consider them a hair-metal band. They were never nearly as Hard Rock as Van Halen's early work, though, so I wouldn't lump them in with Van Halen either. They're just a Rock band.

Digitalstrange 2009-02-26 03:56:22 PM
Their drummer learned to play one freakin armed.

Who gives a fark what you call them? They were a fun band with some good songs.

Def Leppard was invented so I could hold that girl's hand at the skating rink for the last song of the night and then not say anything to her and say, "thanks," when it was over when I was 13.

She was cute, too.

Cheap Trick? Metal?

Have those words ever been used in the same sentence before today?

Does Jethro Tull know about this?

This. And Pyromania and Hysteria are two of the finest albums of the 80s.

Led Zep. seems out of place in that headline. They are the only ones that don't suck.

Led Zeppelin and Poison trifecta now in play.

Warren DeMartini can play circles around Phil Collen.

...and zombie Robin Crosby could kick zombie Steve Clark's ass, too.

Easily, one of the best written songs in the history of music:

Let's get, let's get, let's get, let's get
Rocked......

I'm your average, ordinary, everyday kid,
Happy to do nothin'
In fact that's what I did.
Got a million ways to make my day, but daddy don't agree
'Cos when I try to get away he says
He get plans for me

Get your butt right out of bed
Stop buggin' me
Get up and move your sleepy head
Don't shake my tree.

He said
Mow the lawn - Who, me?
Walk the dog - Not my style, man!
Take out the trash - No way!
Tidy your room - C'mon get real!
Sorry dad, gotta disappear,
Let's get the rock outta here.

Seven-day weekend,
Up all night,
In at the deep end,
Hang on tight
Won't take a minute,
Won't take long,
So get on in it,
Come on, come on, come on

Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Let's go all the way, get it night'n'day
C'mon let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked.

I'm your average, ordinary, everyday dude
Drivin' with my baby, To get her in the mood
She's dialin'through my radio and I'm ready to make my move,
But what she got ain't rock'n'roll and it really blew my groove

It was - Chopin, Mozart, Beethoven
It makes me wanna scream -
Bach, Tchaikovsky, violins
Turn it off! - That ain't my scene
Well I'm sorry girl, here's my confession
I suppose a rock's out of the question?

[Repeat Bridge]
[Repeat Chorus]

Oh, all I wanna do is take a ride into the blue
Ev'ry time I want to love you I get stuck inside my room
Heaven knows I'm sick'n'tired of dancin' with this broom
I feel lucky today Hey, look at that man!
Do ya wanna get rocked?
Do ya wanna get rocked?

It won't take you a minute,
It won't take that long,
So get on, get with it,
Oh, c'mon
Everybody!

Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Get on top, baby
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Do ya wanna?
Do ya wanna?
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Get on top of it
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Love to rock your body, baby
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get rocked
Let's go all the way,
Let's do it night and day,
Let's get out and play,
Rock the night away
C'mon
Let's get, let's get, let's
get, let's get (rocked)
Oh,
Do ya wanna get rocked?

Cheap Trick is awesome.

There is a description for their music that didn't come around until almost 20 years later:

Power Pop. That is right Cheap Trick is power pop. They were power pop before there was such a thing.

The other crap on this tour is crap. Well I'm sure people like Def Leppard and Poison, but they still AOR manufactured pablum.

Def Leppard is garbage, plain and simple. I could almost instinctively tell when I used to work in a music store which people would ask me where the Leppard was. They fit every stereotype of Def Leppard fans you could imagine, and I hated them with every fibre of my being.

this... but i think ol' pete townshend coined the "power pop" term in the late 60s. but cheap trick are definitely the poster children for the genre, in addition to sweet, badfiner, the raspberries, the shoes, donnie iris, the kings, martin briley, and maybe even weezer and kiss.

You hated someone because of the music they liked? Wouldn't it have been more productive to feel sorry for them, or, if necessary, taunt them?

Wow, Boyd. I always thought Def Leppard was the worst band to hit the radio waves in my lifetime.

That confirmed it.

Def Leppard were around years before the hair band thing of the late 80's existed and were very successful.

They only get stuck with the hair band tag by some because they were introduced to Def Leppard via the videos that used to play on Headbangers Ball alongside the Warrant and Winger stuff.

So yeah, I can see why that would annoy them. Their sound was copied over and over by hair bands, too.

Cheap Trick was my second stadium/arena show. (Commodores were first - feck y'all "Brick House" was AWESOME!)

I couldn't hear for two days afterwards but I was thankful for it. As a pre-pubescent boy I figured "Southern Girls" was as good a way to go deaf as any.

I liked Def Leppard, but not their later stuff. After their drummer lost his arm, I just didn't like their sound as much.

I do have to give them props for trashing the album they had mostly completed when the accident happened and re-writing stuff so that he could play it, though. That was pretty decent.

I did feel sorry for them, but I got reprimanded too often for making fun of customers, so eventually I got a little bitter. They were always such dirtbags, and confirmed every stereotype about trailer trash.

This was many years ago, but I can't imagine anything has changed among their fanbase. The worst kind of human garbage.

Hmm...let's trot out some stunning lyrics from a band mentioned...

You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin',
I'm gonna send you back to schoolin',
Way down inside honey, you need it,
I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you my love.

[Chorus]
Wanna Whole Lotta Love [X4]

You've been learnin', baby, I bean learnin',
All them good times, baby, baby, I've been yearnin',
Way, way down inside honey, you need it,
I'm gonna give you my love... I'm gonna give you my love.

[Chorus]

You've been coolin', baby, I've been droolin',
All the good times I've been misusin',
Way, way down inside, I'm gonna give you my love,
I'm gonna give you every inch of my love,
Gonna give you my love.

[Chorus]

Way down inside... woman... You need... love.

Shake for me, girl. I wanna be your backdoor man.
Keep it coolin', baby.

Uh huh. That's just Shakespearean.

Yes, yes they were. Copied and sterilized so badly that they should have tried to diverge into something different. Up to Pyromania they were unique. Then out came the clones.

The worst kind of human garbage? You think of people as garbage? Seriously? You either have an extremely inflated self-image or you don't have a clue about life. Maybe both.

I like the band's early work but they definitely play "we sold out" music now.

Time to listen to "High N Dry". Best Def Leppard song evar.
