that kind of rockstar attitude is the sole property of the RIAA. you'll be hearing from their lawyers.

I'm not surprised; they are being disintermediated and will eventually cease to exist as artists become more capable of producing, distributing and marketing their own music.

And good riddance.

I've wondered how long the music industry can pay the RIAA to continue strategies that don't even slow down piracy as they retard the growth of legitimate online music services and alienate customers in this economy.

Asa Phelps [TotalFark] 2009-02-26 01:30:00 PM
It's ASCAP that would collect the royalties for the live performance.

Forever. If they run out, the government will take money from us directly and give it to them.

...and how much taxpayer money have they wasted with their frivolous lawsuits?

Dying in a fire is too good for these people.

Ika7734 2009-02-26 03:14:13 PM
yes, but the people let go probably have nothing to do with the lawsuits. Probably the helpdesk guy that has to fix some suits email client, or one of the cleaning crew. You can be sure that the asshat level will not drop.

Of course, the "article" subby linked to was a god damned blog that just linked to another site.

Eh, I'm not thrilled with that absolutism. I get the feeling that the guy on the cleaning crew doesn't have the luxury of being able to evaluate every job opportunity on the basis of which farkers he's going to piss off.

In short, he's likely a poor guy trying to feed his family, not a corporate CEO selling 15,000 rare species of insects down the river so that he can gold-plate his Lear Jet.

like the independent contractors that were working on the death star, they knew what they'd gotten themselves into when they signed up.

Oh, come on. Comments of that nature are just retarded. I'd take a job cleaning toilets at Walmart if it was the difference between my family being fed and my family starving - and you would do the same thing. Furthermore, I'd hunt down the self-righteous asshats who smugly sat at their keyboards to degrade me for working for "the devil" and I'd kick them in the teeth. Christ, you can only take the anti-consumerist shiat so far before you start to look like a grade-A moron.

Janitors are usually the last ones laid off. Their work is essential and they work for cheap. Worry not about the illegal overnight.

Jeez, lighten up. I've worked for The Beast myself, and whenever anyone gave me a hard time for it I would pretty much agree with them. But a job is a job, and as soon as a new one opportunity would come up I'd move on. My being there didn't make the company any less evil, but at least I wasn't a part of what made it that way.
