Of course they're going to take the money - all of their states take more federal money than they dish out, so they're used to the idea of handouts.

But they still have to go through the motions of seeming like they don't want to do it. It makes for a good show, and their constituents eat that shiat up. And it makes them feel better about being on federal welfare.

Yeah, just because there isn't a Republican president anymore doesn't mean there aren't hundreds of other national Republican figures to mock incessantly. And the Daily Show still manages to fit in funnier jokes about Obama than the right wing "comedians" can come up with.

As best as I can tell, they are mainly protesting that the states will have to pay the cost of the unemployment cost increases, which makes the GOP whining really farked up.

I liked the part where Bobby Jindal was amazed at spending 140 million on volcano monitoring. What liberal nonsense that is! Every one knows the United States has absolutely no volcanoes anywhere, and that there has never been a catastrophic eruption within the United States...

I mean, can the Republicans become any slimier? I mean, I hate Democrats as well - politician scum that they all are - but, Jesus, just when you think the GOP sets the bar as low as it can go, they dig a deeper hole...

JohnnyC 2009-02-26 01:53:53 PM
First... the blowjob from the guy in the cowboy hat joke... hilarious. :D hah

Second, I have been hearing more and more people explain their dislike of how the Republicans are handling things. I don't mean on here (I see that all the time here), I mean from Republicans in everyday life. Most of them explain that they're ex-Republicans since they no longer see the Republican party as a viable option.

What is sad is that it took Bush running his party like he's run everything else he has ever been in charge of... straight into the ground to convince them that Republicans are bad news. I guess that whole benefit of the doubt thing they had been giving the Republican party didn't pan out for them quite like they had hoped.

There was this website that had a listing of the states that took in the most amount of federal funds... Can't find it.. Honestly, I'd love to see those again, and lay them next to a chart that lists what party they belong to, where they rank in education, and other interesting facts.

My guess? On average, the states that already are taking the most amount of federal funds vs. paying in taxes are southern states, republican and have low rankings in educational standards.

I won't put money on it, but that's my guess.

But it's not just Bush. There are sooo many idiotic Republican politicians in Washington who are just utterly and completely clueless. They don't care that they helped turn the name of the Republican Party into a sad joke. They're just pissed that their old bag of tricks don't work anymore, and instead of abandoning the idea of tricking people into voting for them, they're trying to come up with new tricks.

They really need to convey to the public that they are going to do two things:
1) Become the party of good fiscal policy once again.
2) Abandon the culture war issues.

I know they don't believe me, but there are a LOT of Americans out there that just want to belong to a party that focuses on being very efficient with our tax dollars.

The money is going to get spent by somebody whether we collect it in taxes or not. Republicans need to stop pretending like cutting taxes and smaller government always saves money. Universal health care is the prime examples of this. The "fiscal conservatives" want no part of it. It makes no sense.

We're talking about the current problems with the Republican Party, here.

Did I say that the Democrats were perfect? Did I say that there are no asshat Democrats that care only about re-election and don't give a shiat about the good of the country? No. Now please stay on topic.

Baloney, and I'm a Democrat. The Democrats aren't blameless, but their slice of the blame pie is nowhere near as large as the Republicans' slice.

That's very true. They need to get away from the "tax cuts are always a good thing / smaller government is always best" bullshiat. Everyone knows that's not always the case. Sometimes extra taxes are needed (like when YOU'RE TEN FARKING TRILLION DOLLARS IN THE HOLE, for example).

They need to be the fiscal realists of America. "Okay, we Americans want nice things, and it's good to want nice things, but we get nice things only when we can pay for them. Nodody's getting ANY nice things until we figure out how to bring in more money than we're spending. So let's go over these numbers again and see what we can do."

Both Republicans and Democratcs get paid by special intrests groups to do the same job and advocate the same (important) issues against the intrests of the American People. The only thing they fight for is who gets to be in the position for the bribe.

The Blue Dogs can kiss my rump, AT&T has more sway in our government than half the voting block.

I been from Houma all the way to Shreveport and points in between, and I ain't never even seen a volcana, much less one that needed monitorin'! Anyway, the only people I've ever even heard of bein' interested in volcanas are scientists and pagans, both of which tend to have a liberal bias.

Obama doesn't have the balls to raise the top marginal tax rate beyond Clinton's 39.6%. And, he's getting slammed for even that.

Reagan didn't have the balls to push for a drop in the marginal tax rate below 50% until the last months of his presidency.

Any chance we could raise the top tax bracket back to 50%? If we called it the 'Ronald Wilson Reagan Memorial Tax Compromise', would that help?

Inevitable inflation with astronomical tax increases? I don't care, because I hate Republicans so much! Look at them whine...ha! Questionable spending under the stimulus bill?
