Well, let me just respond to Kenneth the page responding to the internet response to the Republican response to the state of the union address...

Is Alec Baldwin as big a dick as he appears to be?

I think Kenneth the Page should debate the right's fictional character, Joe the Plumber.

/no, I don't

Alright, goddammit.

I'm always the last to know about shows.

I didn't give the American version of The Office a chance, and then I netflixed the whole lot and it was awesome.

So.. 30 Rock...

Any good?

very good. Probably easier to get into than The Office as it doesn't require consistent viewing to figure out the plots.

Yes. I didn't expect to like it - in fact, I wanted to avoid it as I was fed up with Tina Fey but it tickles my funny bone as much as The Office (US) but YMMV.

Very funny. The best part is that a sitcom usually has a voice of reason somewhere in the cast of crazies. However, no voice of reason exists in the "30 Rock" universe. They're all nuts, just to varying degrees. It's awesome.

/Tracy Morgan's character has the rarest -- but funniest -- moments of lucidity.

Rather sad when the best the republicans can offer comes off like a sitcom character.

Seriously, if they want to impress, teach Jindal not to speak to people like they're four.

It's too over the top for me to like it. But then I don't like the US version of The Office either.

I looooved this comment FTA:

"I'm starting to think that if Bobby Jindal, a Rhodes scholar who went to Brown is acting like this in a televised appearance, he acts that way in all his official duties in Louisiana. Is this the level of Uncle Tom-style self-effacing, aw-shucks behavior you have to display to be a person of color and be accepted in Louisiana? Just asking. "

Seconded. The class reunion episode exemplifies this concept. Watch it, CtrlAltDelete, what's the worst that could happen?

Well you could find Tina Fey LESS attractive, as you begin to assume she is Liz Lemon... so there is that.

That could have been so much better. They could have had him walk out awkwardly from the right like Jindal did, and then go into "Let me tell you a story..."

But it was still relatively funny.

And "30 Rock" really is a good show. I didn't think I would like it, but damn, it is really funny quite often.

The first time I saw Jack McBrayer (Kenneth) was in a cell phone commercial - I thought he had a wonderful look for a comic actor. The second time I saw him, believe it or not, was in an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody on the Disney Channel (don't ask), in which he was absolutely brilliant. The third time I saw him was in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, in which he was also brilliant. What an odd career this boy is having!

For some reason, the Zack and Cody episode doesn't show up on IMDb - I think Disney may have disowned him after Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

If everyone liked it, it would be vanilla ice cream: okay but really ordinary. I feel that it makes sense that some people, even those smart enough to "get it" (as I assume you are) wouldn't find it funny.

Car_Ramrod: Strangely, as I assume she IS Liz Lemon, I find her more attractive and appealing.

Everyone's got their thing. While I find her character hilarious and cute, instability and desperation is something I keep in the "catch/release" category.

Still, 30 Rock is friggin' hilarious. And Traci Jordan is an awesome character, which is a pretty big complement, considering I can't stand him as a comedian outside that show.

If I'm not mistaken, he started out as an actual page on Conan. If not, I know he did a bunch of skits as a page on that show.

Conan DID suck when he first started.

The question is whether or not NBC will give Fallon time to develop his show some, or if they're just going to write it off if it isn't an immediate success.

I came here to say two things:

1. Obama spoke to us like we graduated high school. Jindal spoke to us like we were pre-schoolers watching Mr. Rogers. I'm surprised he didn't put on a cardigan during his conclusion.

2. 30 Rock is the best-written comedy on American television today. No comparison. I skipped the first season and I regret it. The Office has gone down hill since they got lazy and started focusing every single episode on putting Michael into the most awkward and embarrassing situations they can think of - I skip at least 1/4 of every show because I can't stand watching him fumble around. The Office is at it's best when Jim and Pam are messing with Dwight.

/I have said my two things

The first season of 30 Rock was kinda lame, I'm guessing Tina Fey was still busy with SNL and/or they weren't sure what direction to take the show. But by the time they got to The Rural Juror it was nearing "Arrested Development" levels of hilarity.
