Wow so much hate, most of you have probably only heard their radio songs... that's like judging the beetles for yellow submarine . Good band that gets better the more you listen to them.

How is this prog, exactly?

I used to work at a concert hall, I heard Coheed and Cambria twice live, and a shiat load of other bands, and they are really tight live. The only band that comes to mind right now as better live is Iron Maiden.

fark YES.

I wish I could have gone to Neverender. I wish they came to Atlanta for that.

I just saw them last week open for Slipknot. Spent $100 for two tickets. Saw them play their set, then took off. They only played 45 minutes but the set was tight as hell and sounded great. They played:

* Welcome Home
* The Velourium Camper Part 3: Al The Killer
* Gravemakers and Gunslingers
* No World For Tomorrow
* The End Complete Part 3: The End Complete
* In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3

I can't wait to see them again.

/new album coming out spring next year

Yeah, that cover is pretty weak, I agree. The artwork in Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV is much better.

I got lucky and saw them play Junesong at the KoolHaus in Toronto in Oct. '07. It was a nice surprise, given the usually predictable setlist (especially on their most recent tour, pre-SlipKnot). I haven't seen it on a setlist since then.

/pre-ordered this when it hit the Co&Ca main page.

I saw them on that tour when they came to Atlanta. What an awesome show. Their 30 minute version of The Final Cut where every member had an extended solo was one of the coolest things I ever heard played live.

With peoples' short attention spans these days, anything that's more complex than "verse, bridge, chorus, repeat" is considered progressive.

I've seen Coheed 4 times and am looking forward to this.

AdolfOliverPanties: One of the worst covers evar.

Agreed.

Chaosandcomedy 2009-02-25 01:51:21 PM
I'll admit that aside from Apollo...Burning IV, I think their work is mediocre, but Fark is making them sound like Rush - and that's just cruel.

lol, I just meant the ability to play their songs, improvise and put on a good show. Maiden is still the better band. Nothing pisses me off more than paying for tickets for a band I like and realize they can't play their own songs aka the Avenged 7x effect.

Great Metal Jesus [TotalFark] 2009-02-25 03:35:37 PM
I don't particularly like them but I think that's an awesome thing to do. I love live sets and wish more bands would release more live material. And when they DO release live material, release it on DVD and CD, goddamn it.

/Still pissed that there's no CD component to Walk With Me In Hell

Katastrfee 2009-02-25 03:39:26 PM
Just realized how my Weeners could be taken sarcastically.

I LOVE Co&Ca and I really can't wait to hear a live version of he entire Second Stage album. I feel their music has been in steady decline since then with brief periods of pure win, but it is still better than a vast majority of the modern music.

Time Consumer
Devil in Jersey
Everything Evil
Delirium Trigger

Those 4 in a row are by far my favorite songs, and there is still Neverender later in the album.

I love progressive rock [especially late 60's, 70's heyday, and 80's] but don't like the 90's and above stuff they call prog. [ie. dream theatre, among others].
and i like/love Rush. [ie. 75-85, some 90's stuff].

but i farking HATE Coheed and Cambria.

what's the deal with that?

am i one of the few?

The thing I always found amusing about Co&Ca is that there is absolutely no middle ground when it comes to people's opinions on them. People either love them to death, or can't stand them at all.

Actually that's just not true, Their chord progressions are only occasionally brilliant but their guitar fingerings and techniques are great , also their drummer is super talented

however modern prog fans, they are not your prog messiah, they are alternative rock and that's it. so stop with the prog bull

Mr. Chainsaw 2009-02-25 05:15:14 PM
00ghost27: also their drummer is super talented

That's because he's Chris Pennie, who used to be in Dillinger Escape Plan. And yes, he kicks ass.

Silovik: Anyone who pays money to see Avenged Sevenfold deserves whatever they get.

Hmmmm...

Not worth $110.

I think I have their other Live CD/DVD set and still haven't ever watched it. It'd be lost on me.

I liked the concept though, and would have gone to the show if I was around the area. Then again, I'm just not as a big of their stuff as I used to be, especially after the last album. It wasn't bad, just didn't get into it.

This. I thought the singer was some pixie girl when I first heard a song, and it wasn't too bad - not great but not bad. Then I found out the singer was a guy and that just killed it for me. I have to like a singer's voice in order to listen to the band. I know that isn't true for everyone, but for me if the singer sucks or I just don't like the sound of their voice, I don't care how good the music is.

Andric 2009-02-25 07:22:44 PM
Ok, I like Coheed and Cambria, but I don't think they qualify as prog.
