Yeah, Congressional support, federal funding of Utah's biggest employer, Hill Air Force Base, is inconsequential.

He was talking about Congressional GOP leadership, which is non-existent. Even Jindal covertly tossed them under the bus last night.

Utah is one of the fastest-growing states right now, and if I'm not mistaken that's almost entirely from California emigration. The rural, mostly southeastern rhetoric from the congressional Republicans likely isn't playing as well as it used to out there. Yes, Utah is still a very red state, but they're definitely getting another seat in congress with next year's census, and some of those districts that will be fought over are going to turn blue.

"I had Newt Gingrich in my office a few weeks ago," Mr. Huntsman said. "What did we talk about? We didn't talk about how you harpoon the opposition through gratuitous rhetoric. It was health care ... environment and energy reform. Real ideas."

Real ideas they kinda missed the boat on. Which is what's really going on.

obama's people spent a farkton of money in omaha to get that one electoral vote. they didn't need it. they just wanted to give a big ole "fark you" to the gop to show them how awesome their game was. worked, too!

Seems like the GOP has got some method to their madness as of late...

1. Distance themselves from everyone in Washington then run a governor or 2 in 2012.

2. Regain power

3. No-bid profit

Please tell me you are joking. Rapture scripture? Let me guess, he called Pelosi a thief in the night, only instead of taking souls to heaven, she's taking money to Washington.

Bobby Jindal, slumdog schmuck! Finish him off, already.

Governor Palin: When is Bristol getting married?

Republicans will sacrifice some other old honkie in 2012 and then run Huntsman against Hillary in 2016.

Very pathetic party, the GOP.

well, there was a tie scenario whereby omaha's vote would've tipped the balance, so they did spend some money here. not sure if it was a "farkton," though. but bordering iowa, we did get a ton of their advertising on TV.

I watched Jindal's speech, an aside from the fact that their new "golden boy of modern politics" looked like an amateur following Obama, I just have to say ... Really? ... Really? This is the route the GOP is going to take? That all government spending and government intervention is bad? When government is the only entity in our country with any capital to get anything done or provide jobs at the moment? You think that old dog and pony show of "all government is the boogeyman" is where the nation is right now? You think that's what people want to hear? Seems like a form of political nihilism to me, but good luck to you on that in 2012.

Jindal: "Reject big government. Like my state. We have rejected government spending. We have the highest percentage of students, anywhere, choosing private schools over our wretched public ones, and still have one of the worst illiteracy rates in the country. Many of our police forces are totally 'self-sustaining', so God help you if you drive through in a car a cop might be able to sell for a few bucks. We have open arms for absolutely any pollution you can think of. Reject big government."

Tossing other Americans under the bus is the Republican way..

They rode their high horse of moral majority "if your not with us your against us" position long enough that even the dumbest lemming-vote-for-W Republicans to catch on that the Republican party is full of right wing haters who will hate anybody that isn't just like them. flippin Nazi's .

Your profile shows that you consider yourself intelligent, so I offer two possible theories as to why you're such an ass:
1) You're not as smart as you think you are
2) You're willfully ignorant

Fortunately, neither you nor your party has any relevance anymore. Shout your butthurt a little louder, maybe it'll make the people in power want to listen to you. We can at least hope you shout yourself hoarse so we don't have to close a window to get any work done.

If considering Republicans not relevant helps you sleep at night, then by all means keep it up. It's said around here so much, and is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Yes, every once in awhile on party has control of the White House and Congress. It happens. The other party does not become irrelevant.

If by stating the obvious (that there are as many racists/bigots on both sides) I'm an "ass" than so be it. The so called Republican type racists hate blacks and gays, etc. according to popular belief. Meanwhile the typical bigoted Democrat hates the religious. I'm surrounded by Democrats in my life, and seen the bigotry first hand.

The fact that the stimulus package just passed the House without a single Republican vote, that the GOP has no clear leader for 2012 and is riven by internal strife, that the most prominent Republican "strategist" is a fat, pill-popping radio host, that Republicans have not proposedone single serious plan to get out of a recession that is the worst in 70+ years... all that screams irrelevance to me. For the Republicans to be relevant, they would have to be contributing to shaping policy, which they are not. I suppose they are "affecting" policy by stonewalling it, but if that's the kind of relevance you want your party to have-- as nothing but a roadblock-- then be my guest.

And if thinking that people who claim the Earth is 6000 years old makes me a bigot, then so be it. I've been accused of worse for less serious crimes.

Political parties that are a minority in both houses of Congress, and do not hold the presidency cannot do much of anything to shape policy. You may not be old enough to remember that this happens quite often...

Also, why would the Republicans have a clear leader for an election that's 4 years away? That's what the primaries are for... The Dems had no clear leader in 2005.
