I hope now, more than ever, that all of the Rolling Stones die in a plane crash.

Don't you dare tell me otherwise.

Wow, not bad. I have Death Magnetic, but haven't listened to it yet. I think I'll give it a try

Maybe it's not "crap," they censored. Maybe Metallica finally made an album without looking at "CP" for inspiration.

Actually Death Magnetic is awesome enough that that would've been a bad thing.

/Can't believe I'm praising something Metallica did in the past 17 or so years.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2009-02-24 06:39:44 PM
Meh. I don't know about anyone else, but I say Death Magnetic kicks serious ass. So, while very few will argue positively the merits of St. Anger, I'm glad they stayed around to do Death Magnetic.

Agree with the people giving props for Death Magnetic. I was one of those "Metallica died after Justice" guys. I listened to each new album as they came out though, and was constantly dissapointed. Then came along Death Magnetic. I feel like it was the band's apology to their fans after all this time. Like, "hey guys, sorry about all that crap we were making, hey btw, we can still play/write real metal!". Death Magnetic easily fits in with the early stuff. Now after all these years I finally have another Metallica album in my rotation!

hahahhaah nah man it sucks as well. Metallica all died during that bus crash, they just couldn't get a robot that could play like Cliff.

I dunno, I feel like you haven't listened to the whole album (as in put it on and listen to the end) if you think that Ride the Lightning was good. Ride is still my favorite, but I would rank Death Magnetic over Master.

Barry McCackiner 2009-02-24 08:08:03 PM
My comment above doesn't make sense. What I mean to say is that if you like Ride the Lightning you would probably like Death Magnetic. If you say you don't like Death Magnetic, then I feel like you haven't listened to the whole album and instead just saw "the day that never comes" on MTV or something.

That Awesomeness is all thanks to some random street vendor in Russia who peddled the video to Kirk after a chance meeting in a marketplace.

I submitted the link with the backstory but it never came about, check their youtube channel, I believe Kirk has a tidbit up about it.

MoP is one of the most complete metal albums of all time(to me it is the most complete metal album of all time, but others have other opinions). That would be hard to top.

I'm certainly not dogging it. It has some great songs on it for sure (Damage Inc is one my all time favorite songs). But as a whole I dunno, it seems repetitive and some of the songs drag pretty bad (The Thing That Should Not Be, blech). Anyways, yeah, its all a matter of taste I suppose. Either way the point is DM stands along side them in my opinion. And if you are a fan of old Metallica you owe it to yourself to give the whole album a listen and go into it with no expectations. I doubt you will be dissapointed.

I heard The Song That Never Ends""The Day That Never Comes" on the radio, seemingly every time that I got in the car, when the album came out. The rest of it CAN'T be good enough to make up for that piece of crap.

They didn't put enough bass on "justice" and it's been slow downhill ever since. Nobody could contradict that

/that video is kinda cool, ill admit. But some of the vocals on that album is atrocious, too bad cos there's good metal riffin' going on

Death Magnetic is ok. Meh on the vocals. Listening to Mastodon right now. "Crack the Skye", to be released 3-24. Metal Album of the year 2009. Will buy when released, unlike Metallica.

They didn't almost break up after the St.Anger tour. They almost broke up while recording St.Anger. The article is saying that the band got back together after almost a year off following the tour without any b.s. involved.

/Death Magnetic was great. They went back to their roots with it but some people keep hating. Same people probably start wanking when they hear that Megadave's next album will be "thrashy".
//Not a nutswinger even though I've been listening since '87. I did love Load, which I thought was a ballsy move.

I'd be happy if they either stopped trying to play solos, start practicing lead guitar again, or brought in a ringer.

Good songs, embarrassing guitar leads. Execrable. That little guy pulls everything sharp when he gets excited.

Really? I don't like it too much so far, and I loved Blood Mountain. The songs feel predictable and the riffs have taken quite a step down.

I don't understand the love for the new album.
I am looking forward to the new guitar hero and love old Metallica.

While St. Anger had no redeeming qualities, the "Load"s had a few good songs such as "Whiskey in a jar" and "Fuel".

I have listened to this new album and there is no song on it that makes you want to replay. My musical interest says "meh".

DrakeLabatt 2009-02-25 11:20:00 AM
Good to see that the Metallica hate is alive and well on Fark. No one would want to admit to getting any enjoyment out of anything Metallica might have done with a recent album or anything. No, that would be... uh, wrong. Worth of derision anyways. Yeah, Metallica is bad. You're a twisted gay retard islamofacistcommie in your parent's basement if you like Metallica. No one who cares what people think of them on Fark would possibly admit to liking anything to do with Death Magnetic.

I find it really difficult to believe that you love 'old' Metallica. Sounds like you love post ...And Justice if you can't find a song to replay on DM.

Cyanide is a simple, but great song in my opinion... excellent bass and drums to intro the song. End of the Line also well done.

I just wish whomever it was responsible, adjusted the volume levels on the music. The disc ends up clipping pretty bad on a lot of speakers.

Neat, considering neither of those songs were on "Load".

The new album is good. It's the first one I've bought since S&M.

I am 35 years old and not a music snob.I like what sounds good.I started listening to Metallica after "... And Justice" came out. Even though "Ride the lightning" and "Master of Puppets" were great, my favorite music is on "kill 'em all".

I tried to find something worth listening on the new album.even listening to a redone version.I have to say that "The Day that never comes" is better without the vocal section yet still nothing that I care to hear more than once.-----My Opinion is that I don't hate it.I just don't care if I hear it.

One thing my headbanger wife and I do not like. The drums overpower everything on this album and makes it sound terrible.

I put an "s" after the quotes trying to indicate that I was referring to both albums.

Metallica died after Kill 'em All. Anyone who says otherwise is either deaf, or retarded, or worst of all, named Lars Ulrich.

I saw that show in San Francisco when they opened for the Stones. I've seen Metallica a few times, so the show doesn't really stick out in my mind but I do remember that they seem genuinely excited to be back on stage. The more music they make, the better. Death Magnetic FTW.
