Of the literally hundreds of shows I've seen in my life both Jane's shows for me are in the top ten. One of the great live bands in American music history.

Wow, just as kickass as they were 20 years ago. "Ocean Size" actually gave me chills.

Music is pretty damn good...
but the lead singers voice has, and always will kill me, ruins any good thing about the music.

Sounds like they are tuning down. a half step? Just sounds weird. I think on Ain't No Right Perry was singing in the old key up until maybe the last verse.

Still love it. It just kind of sounded funny.

musically, they've still got it. but farrell's singing was pretty bad, especially on mountain song.

I was a stupid kid when Ritual came out. I'm just as dumb, now, but that album did change my life.

It's full of Win.

To be fair, that's a hell of a song to sing/scream, even for a 25 year-old. And if I'm not mistaken, Farrel was relatively old (by rock star standards) when the OG came out. I'm just glad the guy isn't dead. By all means one of the artists (entire band) who had a profound impact on me. Everyone whaaaaargarbs about Nirvana; it was Jane's Addiction that really embodied the revolt against perfunctory chords and hair spray.

You may already know this; NIN samples Jane's Addiction on the song Ringfinger.

Those are pretty damn good! I had an opportunity to see Stephen Perkins here in Denver a few weeks back. Actually hung out for a while.. We're a lot closer in age now, but I admit to being a bit star struck.

/queuing up XXX right now

I would just like to add that Dave Navarro's Goatee farking Sucks.

Eric Avery?! Holy shiat I would love to have been the fly on the wall listening to the conversation between him and Perry that led up to this reunion. He's said "never again" more than once...

Theonceovertwice 2009-02-24 01:56:59 PM
WHAT THE F? Hell froze over if Eric is back with them.

And why was I not informed of this show so I could BE there? Sigh.

missmeta 2009-02-24 02:09:52 PM
this is one of the greatest things i've seen in months....years, even. totally worth not working at all yet this morning. wait- now it's afternoon. whatever. mmm...stephen perkins.

RabidDog [TotalFark] 2009-02-24 02:14:05 PM
Saw them in 91? in England. Kick ass show.
Looks like they are still just as rockin.

Cosmk [TotalFark] 2009-02-24 03:23:45 PM
Yeah...great news about these shows (and a couple more coming up this summer?), and I really hope those rumors of a new album come to fruition.

Oddly, I'd just found myself on a JA kick just before all the news, rumors, and innuendo started coming out. Even found that I still have some boots I'd thought I'd parted ways with long ago.

Haha, that's my link but the mod completely changed the wording. For the best, but damn. Well they kept "rocked" and (high quality video)

It's been more than 20 years that they hit the scene -- a band I was in opened for them in New Orleans (at Tipitina's) in early '89 and it was already insane in the place even before we started. People were lined up around the block to see them. I don't think I had ever seen that many people trying to get into Tip's, and they sure as hell weren't there to see us.

Graduated college in 1990, and one of my fondest memories is a road trip with a truly beautiful girlfriend and Nothing's Shocking cranking on the tape deck. Anyone else consider Ocean Size the ultimate peaking song?

shoegaze99 2009-02-24 06:45:57 PM
One of my favorite bands of all time. Their music changed the way I saw music. Saw them twice. They disappointed me both times. I will not go for strike three.

But I still love them.

SubBass49 2009-02-24 09:47:59 PM
THEY WILL BE AT COACHELLA.

/guessing, but VERY likely.
//Perry Farrell is always there
