Why does she use that foot pedal gizmo? Is she too cheap to hire backup musicians?

Dr.Knockboots [TotalFark] 2009-02-24 12:59:54 AM
With her voice and looks.. I want her in one of my blue dress shirts, wearing nothing else but her white cotton panties.. laying on my couch rubbing my head and reading to me.

Trying to come up with other scenarios where her voice and looks would be hot..hmm.

singing Black Velvet at some dive bar on karaoke night? with jeans and heels on?

The song is meh, it's the fact that she does the entire thing so skillfully using the Ableton Live setup that's so damn cool.

More money in her pocket, plus more respect from techie geeks like me, for playing solo.

If disagreeing with Kliffoth is wrong, hey-oh, I don't wanna be right.

I agree with Kliffoth, though I wouldn't have phrased my dislike for Ms. Tunstall's dire music in such base terms.

OK. After one or two songs the novelty starts to wear off. She needs a backup band. What the deal-o?

When she performs "Black Horse" solo with the Looper, yeah, that made me love that song and totally respect her as a musician. While I got sick of hearing the song, I can still totally dig her musical abilities.

Plus, she farkin' beautiful.

Horrible ugly, how about use a pedal, and have a band!! Play a few bars solo with your gimmick on show?
Oh you can't because you need to force home your one gimmick and drag out your shred of respect for every penny before you evaporate to nothing.
Those who do like this tat are wannabes who can aspire to be similarly ham fisted and vacuous.
Not that I care.

Black Horse and a Cherry Tree, and the two other radio-played songs she has are good, but very hold. I have all of her albums, and they are all great. Check out Miniature Disasters. She is a great folk artist, no denying that, and she is really attractive in some strange way.

Love me some KT

/oh and she does an awesome Walk like an Egyptian cover too.

I believe half of you are literally retarded, and I mean that in the most respectful way.

Due to this video, I am now in love. I've never heard of this girl before, but I can't imagine anything she could have done to you to make you so bitter.

She has a backup band, but for some live performances she doesn't use them.
IMO the pedal is freaking awesome. Such a little thing...so many possibilities.

Though, I like her original stuff more than what's being put out now.

KT Tunstall
My Favorite Version

yeah, i downloaded her album for my girlfriend and have it stored away on my computer, never listened to it. i might have to listen to it now.

i very likely won't like it but she's clearly talented.

Wow.
Calm down there, son, what has she did do? Turn you down for a date?

This was a pretty good stuff, althought I am a little tired of her schtick with the effects pedals; I've never seen a clip of her with a band, either. Jes' sayin'...

NOTHIN' wrong with early J5.

Cheez-dog 2009-02-24 01:09:17 PM
She has a band, she just married her drummer. Her albums and live shows are mostly band-backed. You cant judge everything by a few clips on youtube. I think most of her youtube clips use the looper because thats the sort of thing people search for.

That, and imagine that you had not been inundated by the tune. This is evidenced by you referring to it's Whoo-hoo-ness. I'm not a huge fan, but there are some good tracks on that album.

BTW, awesome headline, oldmitter!

Keller Williams. He does loops for his music.

Just felt like going overboard. It's funny some thought I was actually that pissed.

It's just another really annoying song. World is full of them.

So, I take it you're completely ecstatic about the Limp Bizkit reunion aren't you?

I like KT - she's like Melissa Ethridge.

But listenable.

For anyone still paying attention, my favorite version of the "whoo-hoo" song, stripped of all its studio overproduction to let this songbird really shine, raw-style. The rhythmic build-up is intense and compelling, her use of the looping pedals to harmonize with herself is masterful, and her tambourine-stomp marks the song's crescendos. Folk shouldn't be this raucous.

"Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" live on French TV.

I'm still checking the thread, I love KT, and she introduced me to the loop pedal, which I use at home to practice all the time now. I prefer her raw version of Stopping the love, and Miniature Disasters.
