Javier Gonzalez sobbed at the loss of his son, who worked with him in his roofing business and at Oakland Raiders games.

"I'm angry at both of them," he said of the robbery victim and Veliz. "They took my son away from me. He was a hard-working kid."

He added, "My son is dead. I want somebody to pay for this."

It obviously was the kids own fault...but you can't blame the dad too much for saying stuff like this.

His son just died in violence and he's angry. He knows exactly who's fault it is but if you get a camera shoved in your face immediately after your kid dies you are probably going to say some stupid, angry things too.

2 vs. 1, armed vs. unarmed and still can't mug someone? Felony fail, and you deserve to die.

No remorse here, and if it was my son I wouldn't be asking for anyone to pay, I'd be apologizing for his stupidity.

Didn't the son already pay with his life? The other guy will probably get manslaughter and be put away. The victim is remorseful, but alive and healthy.

Everything seems to be in a neat little package from where I'm sitting.

The death sentence should be meted out instantly, not over years wasting court time, with doubt about guilt, etc.

Yeeeah.. worked hard at robbing people at knife point and hanging out with known gang members. The little shiat deserved the knife to the chest. Too bad his friend managed to get away from a much needed quick death sentence.

I have no pity for human trash.

And had it gone the other way and his son was in custody for murdering the victim, he would be screaming that his kid had nothing to do with it again. I hate people who simply cannot admit fault.

REALLY? You're son was just an innocent victim in all of this? He made his choice and now he's paid for it. If you weren't always blaming others for you and your families failures, he wouldn't have grown up thinking the world owed him something and tried to go out and take it by force. Hero Tag is appropriate for the real victim.

These stories give me a warm feeling. Warm like blood. Dad is an idiot. Sad to say kid deserved to die for threatening another man's life. If he had been home instead of out robbing people he'd still be alive today.

avictor 2009-02-22 09:57:56 PM
To the father of the criminal who has the audacity to say someone should pay for his son's death. Who blames the VICTIM. Get a grip.

Maybe you should pay for the undoubtedly countless crimes YOUR son committed before he was conveniently wiped away like the POS he was. Guess YOU should have raised him better.

Gang activity and holding a gun to an innocent victim's head is not a first crime. Thank the lord your loser son is gone and can do no more harm to innocent people.

If my son turned out that way he would NOT be working for my family business - he would be disowned until he shaped up. No way would I give him the financial means to buy a gun for starters.

Your blaming the victim comment is proof YOU taught him he did not have to take responsibility for HIS actions. Noting creates a criminal faster then taking away their sense of responsibility. Nice job.

I do hope you change your tune to apologizing to the victim for what your son has put him through.

No...your son was a piece of shiat, and this world is a better place without him. What would have happened if he didn't die? He might have stabbed an old lady for $12.

Also, it's a shame that California doesn't allow concealed carry for most of its law-abiding citizens.

FTA: "My son is dead. I want somebody to pay for this."

Veliz, who is affiliated with a gang, was arrested at Gonzalez's home after police allegedly found him with the East Coast visitor's cell phone. He will be charged with murder in the death of his accomplice, along with a robbery count, prosecutors said.

The father should be overjoyed as someone will pay for his son's criminal behavior.

As for the dad, at least he'll get his wish. His son's partner in crime will surely pay for this.

Nearly a perfect outcome. The victim is unharmed and not being charged. One criminal is dead, the other is in jail. The only way it could have gone better would be if he killed both of them.

BoobySnacks 2009-02-22 10:00:55 PM
You know... My heart breaks at the thought of a son running home to die in his daddy's arms. As a human being and a father of two little boys, I understand his pain.

That said...

His son got killed by a guy he threatened to kill if he didn't surrender his money to him. He may have been a hard worker and a loving son. But he was also a piece of crap armed mugger who accosted somebody badder than he was. I am raising my sons to be good productive members of society. They will most certainly do the odd stupid thing, but they are good kids. I expect that they will remain so.

The father is culpable for letting his kid run around with the kind of people who mug folks. The victim did the right thing and has nothing to be ashamed of or remorseful about. If somebody was going o have to die... Glad it was the mugger.

FTFA: Gonzalez's father, Javier Gonzalez, said Friday that his son had cried out for his parents and sister when he burst into his home on San Leandro Street. He died there.

And calling 911 never crossed their minds?

FTFA: "I'm angry at both of them," he said of the robbery victim and Veliz. "They took my son away from me. He was a hard-working kid."

Obviously not. He failed at trying to rob someone.
Your son is at fault for everything that happened. He led to his own death.

Fark that guy. I'm glad his son is dead. Maybe less people will try robbing dudes if more of them end up stabbed to death with their own knife. I wish this happened more often. If this link works it'll bring ya to an asian guy getting robbed at an ATM by a bigger black dude. The asian guy chases him down and puts him in what looks like a successful sleeper hold.

No kidding, yea, your hardworking kid was working hard boosting some guys green and popped the wrong guy. I figure that they have saved how many trials before he went away for a long time???
