KAVORKA Subby's headline makes NO sense.

Chris Wallace claimed that AG Eric Holder was barely confirmed. He was confirmed by a vote of 75-21. That's a margin of confirmation of 54 votes. Justice Clarence Thomas was confirmed to his position by a vote of 52-48. To tie it all together, the number 54 is bigger than the number 52.

archichris [TotalFark] 2009-02-22 09:50:04 PM
I thought about what Holder said.....

Obviously I need to trade in my white wife and kids for some multi ethnic kids or have an affair with a black woman and sire some multi-ethnic kids.

Because see I mainly hang out with my family on weekends.

I think we should apply Holders Hypothesis to the Black community, and require them to spend time with whites on the weekends. No wait, that would be RACIST!!

I dont have that gif of the little black kids screaming 'thats racist' or I would add it here.

One last thought....

In a Capitalists study, his walls(her walls) are lined with diplomas and awards and pictures of him with each of his successful enterprises.

One can only assume in a Socialists Study the walls would contain documents chronicling his race, his disabilities, the things he blames his parents for, the things he blames society for, and a trophy he got for participating in a non-judgmental scoreless whiffle ball game in grade school.

Based on those numbers the Senate voted 77 to 23 in support of the Iraq Resolution as such.....

The resolution cited many factors to justify the use of military force against Iraq:

* Iraq's noncompliance with the conditions of the 1991 cease fire, including interference with weapons inspectors.
* Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction, and programs to develop such weapons, posed a "threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region."[2]
* Iraq's "brutal repression of its civilian population."
* Iraq's "capability and willingness to use weapons of mass destruction against other nations and its own people".
* Iraq's hostility towards the United States as demonstrated by the alleged 1993 assassination attempt of former President George H. W. Bush, and firing on coalition aircraft enforcing the no-fly zones following the 1991 Gulf War.
* Members of al-Qaeda were "known to be in Iraq."
* Iraq's "continu[ing] to aid and harbor other international terrorist organizations," including anti-United States terrorist organizations.
* The efforts by the Congress and the President to fight terrorists, including the September 11th, 2001 terrorists and those who aided or harbored them.
* The authorization by the Constitution and the Congress for the President to fight anti-United States terrorism.
* Citing the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, the resolution reiterated that it should be the policy of the United States to remove the Saddam Hussein regime and promote a democratic replacement.

So I guess we can honestly say that the Invasion of Iraq was overwhelmingly supported.

You could say that. You could also say that many of the senators in Washington were duped by an administration that was hell-bent on invading Iraq mere months after the president took office.

/Yeah, I said it.

In Washington. With bad information being given to the senators. But yes, it was. Sadly.

archichris: So I guess we can honestly say that the Invasion of Iraq was overwhelmingly supported.

The vote wasn't to invade Iraq. The vote was to authorize the use of force, to make sure Saddam didn't have nukes, and only if they really had to use force. We were told "It's just to make sure Saddam knows we're serious, just a formality. Trust us!"

Josh Bolton, Karl Rove and Harriet Miers have been subpoenaed by Congress. Under the Bush administration they used the ruse of executive privilege to dodge that, but the subpoena still remains valid.

Holder has done jack squat except say "looky, over there, racism"
I don't care how many votes this joker has been approved by.
If he ain't going to do his damn job he ain't worth doodly-squat, and should be replaced.

He was confirmed on Feb. 2. How 'bout waiting 'til he's been in office more than three weeks before deciding that he's a failure?

Fine but the point is that 1 confirmation vote 15 years ago isn't representative of anything. How is the most divisive Supreme Court confirmation hearing in history a benchmark for what is and isn't a large/small/tiny margin of victory? It isn't.

It was a terrible and confusing headline. That is all.
