who is still buying KMFDM records? I guess I can imagine the appeal if you're 15 and just discovering them and you don't yet know they've been making the same record for 20 years now, but I can't imagine anyone still being that excited over the prospect of a new album by them.

I could give a shiat about KMFDM, just thought it was appropriate.

dude seriously, the whole "you must be a kid if you listen to that" routine went out of fashion 10 years ago. Get with the program.

Not me. They peaked with Naive in 1990 and have sucked ever since.

I wouldn't go that far. Naive is way over-rated. I think they became boring when it became the Sascha and Skold Show right around Adios. I would still probably take a new KMFDM album over another listen of Don't Blow Your Top.

Do they still make "LOL, KMFDM sucks winkwinknudgenudge" songs like they seem to have done on every album since Naive?

Major US tour = Toronto, New York, Philly, Cleveland, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, and two shows in L.A.

Saw DM at the gorge in Washington state. They did "Waiting for the night to fall" as the sun set. Fun show, but didn't like "Exciter".

Never saw a KMFDM show, maybe because Sascha is 86'd from all the Seattle clubs.

No Chicago date yet. Curses.

I might have to jog up to the Toronto date.

No San Antonio show? Last tour, we were 5th or 6th from the start of it, and the ATT Center was SOLD OUT! Im talkin almost 20,000 strong with LITTLE advertising! They couldve played the Alamodome and had atleast 30,000 people show easy.

Great seats, EXCELLENT SOUND, awesome perfomances from the whole group. Easily the best concert Ive ever seen. Ive been to atleast 26 different concerts in my life, most of them with A-List bands headlining. Never seen a concert so great in my life until then.

What the hell?! No Chicago stop? Bad enough I had tickets to the Chicago performance during "Touring the Angel"--which they canceled because Gahan was sick--a show they never replayed, mind you, necessitating a refund...but now they're blowing past the city entirely?

And Denver? Who in Colorado listens to Depeche Mode?

paulseta [TotalFark] 2009-02-22 06:47:11 PM
KMFDM has nothing to do with Depeche Mode at all.

It translates to "No Pity For the Majority". The whole "Kill MFing Depeche Mode" thing is an urban legend.

/the new Depeche Single has "where's the rest of it" syndrome yet again... and WHERE'S THE DRUMS?

I love Depeche, but the last couple of albums have had weak-ass production and very wimpy drums.

Not really, he's just acts like a jerk and the clubs don't tolerate it.

Nice troll. I'm "still excited over the prospect of a new album by them," not that you're likely to care. No, I'm not 15. Yes, I realise that their songs tend to follow a formula. I still like them because they find a way to keep the sounds fresh, and are consitently at the forfront when it comes to new synth sounds and techniques. They have by now a massive catalog of synths, sequencers, effects and whatnot, and if you pay attention to the music beyond, 'this chorus sounds like the chorus to all their other songs' there is tons of wicked stuff to found. Oh yea, and they remix very well too (Brimborium, anyone?)

He's not really trolling, FeedTheCollapse has shown he's actually got some pretty good taste and an interesting opinion. I haven't listened to KMFDM in ages, because their records were the same damn thing every time back when I was into them.

At the forefront for synth sounds and techniques? No, absolutely not, I can tell you that even though I haven't listened to them in ages.

Right now it's Robert Henke (Monolake) who's had his hand in a few new instruments and software progs. I'd also say Brian Transeau (BT) is definitely out there as well. I know he makes instruments for himself, I don't know if he's involved with any software. His production is absolutely incredible.

Then you've got the old IDM standards of Autechre, Aphex Twin, etc. They're consistently trying to raise the bar although it isn't necessarily music at times. Also Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus in terms of production and the minimal trends going on now, that's all because of them. Lustmord in terms of sound design.

KMFDM is just a long ways off from those dudes, imho. I don't hate them or anything, I'm just saying.

I like that one song by KMFDM! You know, the one where they say "KMFDM" in it?
