That was cool, but he needs a Santana shirt.

I know you're seven, I know you're seven, but you'll be a seven-year-old, walking-the-dog, no-house motherfarker!

He's got a lot of talent.

Good for him.

Pardon me while I go smash my guitar to bits.

Its weird, I have a good friend who learns songs by ear and is pretty technically gifted and can play Santana stuff by heart just from practicing with the song, but he has the same problem that this kid has: no sense of rhythm. Its weird. My mate is such a perfectionist when it comes to getting the right notes and the bends and the slides and all, but he just fudges over the rhythm all over the place, kinda like this kid.

That said, this kid is talented. And, yeah, somebody get him a shirt, people are whistling already.

radioman_ 2009-02-22 03:09:24 PM
Seth'n'Spectrum hit it on the head - no rhythm. The kid is certainly facile, but true talent remains to be seen. Of all the gifted little kids paraded across my TV screen over the years only one really made it to the household name upper stratosphere: Tiger Woods. Papa Woods did a good job.

He's seven, you twats. "OMG HE HAS NO RHYTHM."

Please go off yourselves.

Dude, I didn't say he's not talented, that he doesn't have great potential. Just remarking that its interesting that some musicians seem to develop technique and skills far before rhythm. The uneven development just intrigues me.

/on the internet, there is no middle ground
//can't decide if the music or politics tab is worse in this respect.

Yeah, and from what I've heard, so do you. (KIDDING!)

Favorite Santana song, played by a 7yr old.

Excuse me while I go and break first my guitar (a '65 Gibson accoustic) and then my fingers.

Check out this song "whiskey before breakfast" on the guitar. This guy is awesome. Link (new window) There is a video out there of a girl about 9 years old playing it just like this, and she makes me want to smash my banjo. I can't find the video right now, but it's impressive.

Get your kids introduced to musical instruments EARLY. It's like learning a language. The earlier the better.

Thanks a freakin' heap, man! Ijust spent the last half hour flipping through guitar videos. Ended up with some Merle Travis.

/Not exactly a waste of time, ya think?

Look for video of him playing Crazy Train.

Randy's looking down from heaven going "Son of a b*tch even I can't do that."

The first time I saw Derek Trucks, he was much better than this kid. He was also 12.

Cute kid! Great job. I suck at that song, even though I have the tab. i'm jealous.

And to any bitter farkers who here say "OH HE MISSED THAT NOTE" (or that he's not playing the song the right way, up near the 9th fret, heh).. may we all be as talented at something as this kid.

/i'm talented at wasting weekends playing Left 4 Dead.

don't wanna be a spoilsport here, but ya ever hear some of these (ok, i'll say it asian) kids playing incredible classical music at like age 4? they are incredible...

Third_Uncle_Eno 2009-02-23 12:19:27 AM
the santana version of this, on the 70's live album "lotus" [3 LP] is amazingly awesome.
hell, the whole album is great.
truly one of the most underrated / forgetten about live albums ever.

/ mine's a 3LP version manufactured in Japan. $30.

Third_Uncle_Eno 2009-02-23 12:20:36 AM
I mean i got it for about $30 at my favourite cd / vinyl store.
i figure i got a pretty ok deal lol

MadSkillz 2009-02-23 01:11:13 AM
Third_Uncle_Emo I love old Santana. I gotta find this now. (New Santana is basically just Santana selling himself to play some ditties with a bunch of douchebag 'artists')

Dafatone 2009-02-23 03:49:38 AM
Reminds me of a 7 year old who beat me at chess when I was a camp counselor. And I'm pretty damned good at chess.

Afterwards, I had to help him tie his shoes. Ouch.

unclefester325 2009-02-23 09:14:39 AM
still, anyone playing anything by santana makes me happy... My PRS Santana 10-top nods it's head approvingly...

Kind of makes me wonder, if a 7 year old can play your shiat, you must not be that dang good.
