FTA: The Korea Record Institute said it would submit video footage of Kim's feat to the Guinness authorities for official recognition as the new title holder in "longest singing marathon by an individual."

Guinness will then hand the video over to the Pentagon for use as torture.

Always found those lyrics similar to the opening of T.S. Eliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock":

Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky

I'm listening to a Grateful Dead concert right now and am really getting a kick, etc.

"The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean...." (lyrics as I type this)

Brown eyed women and red grenadine!

Anyway, subby probably knows all the words to Drums->Space too - after all, if there's one thing the Grateful Dead were known for, it was their vocals!

And just wanted to add that 2 tickets to The Dead came in the mail the other day - $222 for shiatty seats without Jerry. Then again, seat assignments never meant shiat at a Dead show. Still, that's a LOT of money just to see Phil Lesh and Warren Haynes - the rest of them are only worth a sawbuck (sorry Mickey)

Thank you eggrolls, I came here expecting that.

Also, thank you johnny_vegas. If I didn't have to say Cambodian women are the hottest in the world (to appease my girlfriend) I would definitely place Korean women in that category.

Which ones you going to? I couldn't arrange much time off so I'm only going to Philly on May 1-2. (Which is convenient because I live in NY, my tour buddy lives in DC, so we're meeting in the middle.)

I thought they were great in 2002-2004. A little bit of Bill Simmons' "Ewing Theory": once they stopped standing around and waiting for the superstar to carry the load, they all picked it up a notch. Hearing Bob Weir nail Shakedown or New Speedway Boogie made me feel all tingly. Plus the setlists were undeniably better than anything from mid-80s to the 90s.

Jerry Garcia and Eric Clapton are captured by cannibals one day. Before they are about to be cooked for dinner they are granted one final wish. Jerry says "hand me my old guitar and let me play Dark Star one last time...". Eric says "please kill me before he starts".

Denver.

Damn - no wonder you thought they were great - you got a Shakedown and New Speedway....just found the setlist from when I last saw them and it was 2004, not '03....looking back, it wasn't a bad setlist - weirdest thing on it has to be Madman Across The Water...

Security was a real hassle getting in - made us miss the acoustic Warren opener and to make matters worse we couldn't even hear it because some local POS radio station was blasting their music as security molested us all waiting in line to get in.

/For all that groping, you'd think they would have at least kept one person from bring weed inside - and how did they expect to find the doses? Were they only searching for guns? That would be a first - a deadhead gangster...then again, we are all over

Mine havent come yet....but I spent about $65 to see them for that Obama fundraiser and it was actually worth it. Frankly it was better than at least a few dead shows Ive been to. It was better than any of the "Further" shows that I saw.

Just put on 1/3/70 and the first song is Morning Dew - not a lot of lyrics, but what really struck me is there used to such things as crescendos which seems to be a concept lost on youth today - and by youth, I mean anyone anyone under 30.

I'm 21, but I spent most of my youth parading around California with my parents catching every Dead show they could make before Jerry died.

Now my mp3 player is like 35% grateful dead live shows.

And yeah, Dark Star Orchestra is the shiat. I think they sound better than the real Dead these days, myself. Not to mention, they carry the curse; a year or two ago their keyboardist died.

The Dead don't sing for hours, they just forget to end the song and noodle on their guitars for hours.

True story:

Back in the late 70s / early 80's I dated a girl who was into the Dead, and she dragged me to see them every time they were in town. Since I don't do drugs, the experience was very different for me vs. her and her friends. Interesting people watching, but not much more than that for me.

Flash forward to the mid-90's...

I've got a new group of friends, all younger, who are into raves. They like to keep me around because I keep my head straight, have a huge land-yacht of a car, and am good at keeping them out of trouble and talking them down when their trip turns on them. We ran into the deadhead ex-gf as we were getting ready to head out to a outdoor rave so I invited her along.

When we get there she comments: "Wow, this music is really repetitive!"

Two hours later after she takes some E: "Wow! The music doesn't seem so repetitive anymore!"

Yes, dear, that's what all those dead shows were like for me.

Grateful Dead = worst concert I have ever seen (out of over 100).

I saw them for New Year's Eve. Apparently, they covered the closing of Winterland show. It was pretty good. One member of the band (the keyboardist) actually played better than the original member at the original show. Of course, given we're talking Keith in '78-'79, that's not saying much.

Never saw the Grateful Dead, but I did see Phil Lesh open for Dylan a few years ago. That was, without question, the longest hour of my life.

a dead show was less known for the singing than they were for the jams.
